The super rich are buying EVERYTHING. And that means regular people can’t compete for the things we need. Like politics that is responsive to real needs!

We need wealth taxes to directly tackle this and stop the rich from squeezing out of everything
We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

Interesting, no specifics in the article but if it follows the pilot that would mean something like $500/month to 1,250 households.
NEW — Today, Cook County became the first county in the U.S. to establish permanent funding for guaranteed income at the county level.

The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved $7.5 million for the program through its FY 2026 budget, which totals $10.12 billion.

They lied about it. All of it. A thug cop shot an unarmed woman five times without justification, boasted about it to his colleagues, and then this administration tried cover it all up by arresting her and charging her with felonies.
Absolutely incredible; after shooting Marimar Martinez 5 times and arresting her on claims that she rammed them and pulled a gun, prosecutors have now moved to dismiss ALL criminal charges against her and her codefendant.
New: the govt has moved to dismiss its assault case against Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, two people accused of "box[ing] in" a Border Patrol vehicle in Chicago on Oct. 4.

One agent shot Martinez, with evidence presented to the court that he later bragged about in text messages.

This seems like the right direction to me. What I’ve read about Waymo is they have the strongest record on diligence/safety in AV tech.

But more cars doesn’t make our community more liveable. I don’t want to spend effort championing Lyft/uber either. Active transportation is the way.
A few things:
1. This is a labor issue and will funnel what was once driver money to tech companies
2. This adds vehicles to roads and will likely increase traffic as they roam looking for passengers
3. I am not as concerned as others seem to be around safety concerns (once tested in snow)
Waymo, the driverless ride-hailing company, is bringing its fleet of autonomous electric vehicles to Minneapolis.

“It is incredibly frustrating we are not getting participation from MPD,” Timmerman said.

Timmerman said the delays are part of the reason why the estimated cost to contract with an outside law firm to assist with the investigation has doubled from $90,000 to about $200,000.

Grateful for folks on the ground observing federal raid activity in Saint Paul.

It matters what is actually happening in terms of agencies/targets, as that changes the impact/risk.

But I don’t think elected officials should be credulous to the point of allowing Feds to play the shell game.

This is far worse than anyone expected.

Trump's HUD plan would cut *two-thirds* of permanent housing and push as many as 170,000 formerly homeless people back onto the street—redirecting funds to work mandates, forced treatment, and encampment sweeps.

All as mass internment camps are being built.
