Reminds me of the band Wednesday, which feels like Americana shoegaze to me. Wednesday is super good!

I grew up in the last heave of broadsheets and alt weeklies. I think that’s over. I read the history of the Spokesman and Recorder on the wall of Sabbathani the other week. I subscribe to racket, reformer, sahan, radio k… but is that enough? Where is real, messy, democratized conversation happening?

Been thinking about this a bit today. What does that look like, in 2025? And in context of an election that reflected strong class/property-owner solidarity. One side of the city has the Strib. What does a flagship for the other side(s) look like? What could pay for more than one Susan Du?

I wonder about:

- is Metro Transit still struggling to find drivers?
- is there outreach/training actively recruiting rideshare drivers to work for Metro Transit?
- how do we fund more positions to make transit frequent, reliable and welcoming?

IMO Waymo is a symptom of car dependency, not a cause

IMO bike infrastructure is like transit frequency: you gotta be able to count on it being there, not have to carefully plan a route, nor re-route every trip. There are so many different looking/feeling pieces of bike infra around the city now that I can’t easily “read” it. Need a clear grammar

I agree with this re: gaps. And I want to expand that getting through downtown has been really bad for years. Even where there are good parts, there is so often construction blocking something. Or the 4th st bikeway which is two-way for a stretch and then suddenly isn’t, close to the cedar/riv path
