We’re always talking about whether China might invade Taiwan someday, yet here’s the US planning an invasion of Panama out in the open.
EXCLUSIVE: The Trump White House has directed the U.S. military to draw up options for increasing the American troop presence in Panama to achieve President Trump’s goal of “reclaiming” the Panama Canal, officials say.
Trump White House has asked U.S. military to develop options for the Panama Canal, officials say
Potential plans range from partnering more closely with the Panamanian military to a less likely option of U.S. troops seizing the canal by force, U.S. officials told NBC News

New data from the US Treasury reveals that federal spending was $603 billion in February, which is $36 billion HIGHER than February last year under Biden.

This suggests that DOGE has done nothing to cut spending.
Trump's first month showed $36 billion more in spending than last year
This February's monthly statement showed federal payments that were $36 billion higher than last February's.

The very stupid "Canada, our 51st state?" discourse is even stupider when it's argued in DC, a non-state that Republicans relish in punishing.
If this passes, Democratic Senators will have voted to *gut* DC services, including schools.

550,000 people are depending on your senator to save their schools, their libraries, their streets, their public transportation, their social workers, and their public safety.

Call them now.
We can stop this bill in the Senate, where they will need seven Democratic votes to break the filibuster.

Rand Paul has suggested he will be no, John Fetterman has suggested he'll be a yes.

Call your senators and tell them to stand firm. Scripts and language here.

Being a historian, people ask me if I think the US is living through Germany 1933.

I answer no, analogies are always imperfect but to me it feels more like Russia 1999: a blatant theft of state assets and liberals in a fugue state, refusing to believe the arc of progress is bending against them.

the absolute most charitable thing you can say about a lot of democratic lawmakers is that they want to hold onto a political order that no longer exists
The embodiment of Democratic Party resistance. “They’re throwing out the Constitution. I’m not sure how I’ll vote on it.”

The Trump admin has dropped a lawsuit that sought to cut toxic emissions from a facility in a highly polluted area of Louisiana known as “Cancer Alley.”

The EPA hasn't explained why they dropped the suit against a company emitting a likely carcinogen.

My fear is that the Trump administration arrested Mahmoud Khalil to make an example out of him because they’re gambling Dems won’t put their jobs and lives on the line to protect a Palestinian.

Liberals really have nothing left but to parrot what the left has been saying for decades. It's almost like we said the far right would continue to rise due to decades of neoliberalism.... Unless we pass a GND

Opinion | There Is a Liberal Answer to Elon Musk
Right-wing populism thrives on scarcity. The answer is abundance. But a politics of abundance will work only if Democrats confront where their approach has failed.
