A while back, I went down a rabbit hole in our land use code's requirements on "Design and Architectural Standards." It was so absurd that I had to write this article as a coping mechanism. I also dug into the history of where these standards came from (tl;dr: it was a reaction to this BRIGHT BLUE)

Institute CONGESTION PRICING for Pike Place Market. Non-merchant cars just driving through looking for non-existent parking: $25. Not a ban. Stand in solidarity with NYC when it matters.
I’ve been talking about pedestrianizing Pike Place Market for close to 20 years. This is the first time I’ve heard anything directly from the mouth of a Seattle mayor. Time to make it happen.
Good on Bruce Harrell to finally propose closing the Market to cars (except for deliveries). But I hope he is prepared for, and willing to push through, resistance from the carbrains on the Market's various advisory and governing bodies

2 months ago I bought plane tix to LA with my wife to visit the Huntington Library & gardens so we wouldn’t be sitting around thinking about the inauguration. Of course we had to cancel once LA caught fire. I’ve got nothing good to say. Interesting times!
