We started a veterans court in Pierce County and it’s been a tremendous success. The challenge is that local budgets are strained, and these dockets are expensive. If the State wants to see more diversion from the system, it should invest their savings in these programs.
The point isn’t to reinvent the wheel: if the Superior Court moves ahead with a veterans court, it will be looking to other communities and the national model for best practices. (Olivia Palmer / Yakima Herald-Republic)

It's very funny they kept the MS portion of the name. Microsoft very briefly partnered on the channel and bailed decades ago.
By this time next week, we will be The Rachel Maddow Show on MS NOW!

Everything else about us will be the same, and that includes watching.

However! If you DVR the show, you may want to double check the scheduler to make sure it didn't get confused.

I think people today don’t appreciate how thoroughly it corrupted our system.
"1929" author @andrewrsorkin.bsky.social says one of the "great surprises" of his research was that polling suggested the economy is not what doomed President Hoover's 1932 reelection bid.

"[Hoover] could have reversed himself on... Prohibition... and then I wonder whether he would have won."

Think I’m going to try and log off for the week, enjoy your Edmund Fitzgerald posting and see you next week.

Might check my DMs from time to time in case someone needs something. Also, don’t mention this post if I come crawling back.

It’s true that public health is responsible for the vast majority of social determinants of health outcomes. It’s also true that we have decimated that system. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Rep. John McGuire: "We need to rethink healthcare in America. It needs to be a preventative healthcare system, not a reactive, put-a-bandaid-on system that we have...you cannot exercise your way out of bad nutrition. Eat right, exercise right, lead a healthy lifestyle, & maybe have early screenings"

This is a real challenge in WA. It’s also stalling other types of manufacturing projects. One I’m aware of is a massive defense aerospace contract.
Data-center projects that “may sit empty for years because the local utility isn’t ready to supply electricity.”

Trump doesn’t, however, include himself in the pardon.

The language specifically says that the pardon does not apply to the president.

And here he is playing basketball with the Commander of CENTCOM, Brad Cooper.
