You're right — Peter Sutcliffe should never have been released! That's on me. I see now that he is the infamous Yorkshire Ripper🔗. Here's some ideas for how to explain this to the public

1) he's done the crime, now he's done the time, folks!
2) in England, murder is not considered a "real" crime🔗

Incredible shit here: the man who provided the template for stomping on the BBC when it displeases malicious actors in politics, complaining that malicious actors in politics are using his template for stomping on the BBC for displeasing them.

Why aren't Labour's life-changing policies connecting with voters - and what can the party do? It's down to messaging, how it's told, and the messengers...

Make no mistake, this excavation wouldn’t be happening if Catherine Corless hadn’t stuck her neck out and defied people telling her to leave it alone.

But the scale of this is unimaginable. It’s not just M&B homes, it’s laundries, it’s industrial schools, it’s giant psych hospitals.

Is it worse now that the committee meetings are just dissemination events for decisions that the consulting firms have made, or is it just a different type of dire.
As a retired academic I’m allowed to say that this public art in Leuven sums up how I feel about the prospect of a committee meeting!

Sir Keir Starmer has been specifically named in a UN report for complicity in Israel's genocide.

The report states that the UK government played "a key role in military collaboration with Israel... a collective crime... with detailed knowledge and cooperation in the destruction of Gaza." 🧵

Dunno how much a paramount subscription is but I am 100% sure you could spend it on something better.
Under new head of Paramount David Ellison, the studio has drawn up a list of actors who opposed the Gaza genocide and will not allow them to appear in its films and TV shows.

Does this sound familiar?

Also, "Ellison is reportedly aiming to take over Warner Bros. next."
Paramount Has Blacklist for Stars Deemed “Overtly Antisemitic” — World of Reel
It sure looks like the likes of Javier Bardem, Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Mark Ruffalo won’t be making movies for Paramount in the foreseeable future.

Note the ‘British soil’ bit. My uni has plans to open a campus in China. The VC scoffed at me when I expressed concern that staff and students wouldn’t be able to speak freely, and that - as he said - the curriculum would be censored. It’s the price of doing business.

important (and perhaps obvious) sidenote to the recent Sheffield Hallam case — foreign governments are not the only groups who may want to discourage critical research conducted at universities
Yep. The self-censoring and anticipatory compliance by universities, citing ‘commercial interest’ and risk, is part of the curtailing of academic freedom.

It might not be as visible as gag orders or leave a paper trail like law suits, but the effect is the same.

We need a secure funding system.

We've put a stretch goal on to cover the platform fees (whoops) and recovery costs. You can read Chris' update below the original message.

Much love.
I've been quiet for a while. It's been due to a number of factors, the most prominent of which is poor health.

I need surgery, and I'm stuck in limbo. Please help.
