I'm teaching a large undergrad course next year called "Media
Misinformation" and am looking for a textbook -- especially from a Canadian or global perspective.

Suggestions?

Also pls send me links to key accessible articles or blog posts etc, including your own, if you think it'd be a good fit? 🙏

Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down

I really dig the birds of resistance thing, and am looking forward to seeing one for RI, so people who display it can be like “hey, fascist even the chickens think you’re a cowardly loser”

(Off to find some chickadees myself)

This judge says:
- refugees must be released in the next 5 days
- Returned to Minnesota. Not released onto the streets of Texas, which is what's been happening.
- ICE must alert the refugees' lawyers so they aren't released into dangerous cold without someone to meet them
REAKING: A federal judge in Minnesota has barred the Trump administration from arresting / detaining the state's 5,600 refugees while they await lawful permanent resident status. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

As far as I know, Tom Suozzi here still does not have a primary challenger in his district (NY-3 on Long Island).

The filing deadline is April 6 for the primary on June 23, and if there's a remotely progressive town council member or PTA president in that district, this is the time to make a move.
Confronted Congressman Tom Suozzi, one of seven Democrats casting the decisive votes to increase ICE funding by $10,000,000,000.

I know I've been talking about it a lot, but this is also a huge issue in Massachusetts, which is has a huge Haitian community. There are thousands of people here on TPS who face deportation. No surge has been confirmed, but increased activity seems likely.

Threading a few stories below.
I know all eyes are on Minneapolis, but there's a fast-approaching nightmare in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump is revoking protected status for tens of thousands of Haitians living there on Feb. 3.

Reportedly, on Feb. 4, 1000 ICE agents are arriving to remove this population. Ethnic cleansing.

If you can vote in ANY local election, build a resilient network of people who VALUE DEMOCRACY.
This is no time to fuck around.
If you didn't think that Prosecutor and Sheriff elections were important before, you must believe they are now in this era of Trump's ICE.

It's time we all learned about these crucial criminal justice elections in 2026.

Something important to understand about ICE thugs in the Twin Cities is that they're harassing innocent kids and parents at bus stops and schools every single day. Even after the Pretti shooting. It's terrorism.

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

The UK version of “Project 2025” by the Reform party includes a British ICE, a concentration camp for 24,000 people, mass surveillance and withdrawing from refugee, anti-torture and anti-trafficking conventions.

It’s on their website. That’s how comfortable fascists are in the UK today.
