Professional labor photographer. Unions for all. Birds. Whales. Cats. Hydration. Maybe a dash of democratic socialism. Not necessarily in that order. Too much optimism for the current moment.

Cute content skeeted often, not with the news cycle

Our enemies are cowards and we're going to defeat them.
Do not assume that everything they set out to do is inevitable. They have been successfully fought on multiple fronts, from courtroom wins that have actually stuck to city and state governments that haven't backed down, to activists in the streets organizing against their violence.

Earlier in the year I drove 9600 miles to do Milky Way photography.

Between that, work, my health, and the terrors, I'm exhausted.

I promised myself no more trips over 100 miles from home for the year, unless critical for the union.

I broke that promise Saturday.

Worth it.

Final version. 🪶

We organized and won a $20 minimum wage for CA fast food workers, including Starbucks workers, and the Fast Food Council.

We showed the industry we have something more powerful than their money:

Solidarity.

We'll keep fighting until @sbworkersunited.org's wins this contract.

WE WON. I am *begging* you to take note of who did this. *Not* UCLA admin—they’re still scuttling around behind closed doors, attempting to appease—but FACULTY AND STAFF, led by AAUP.
BREAKING: In AAUP et al v. Trump (wall-to-wall union lawsuit challenging the administration’s unlawful use of TItle VI to reshape the University of California system), the faculty and staff of the UC system WON!!!

We were granted our preliminary injunction! @aaup.org

Six Jane Does filed suit against senior USVI officials, including Plaskett, and "John Does 1-100" in 2023. The suit alleged "defendants made the United States Virgin Islands a “safe haven” for Epstein’s sex trafficking." I'm no lawyer so this is where I step aside.
Jeffrey Epstein appeared to text with Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) during Michael Cohen's 2019 congressional hearing and may have influenced her questions.

Text message time-stamp match up with hearing video reviewed by The Washington Post.

There is strength in a union
In the US, the only leverage many academics have is threatening to leave. That leverage is growing weaker and weaker as jobs disappear. At this point, beyond a few superstars, it’s effectively nil. There are, of course, other forms of leverage, but they require working in concert.

I'll be beating this drum constantly between now and April:

Zohran must play nice with the governor to advance his agenda. But our task, at the grassroots, is to use Hochul's fear of losing re-election to push her incessantly and publicly.

Well done on climate, Third Act 👏
“'She did not just approve a fossil fuel project. She made a moral choice,' Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado (D), who is primarying Hochul, said on Monday. 'New Yorkers deserve a governor who does not treat the climate crisis as a PR problem, but as a test of moral leadership.'”
Hochul enrages environmentalists with shift to ‘all of the above’ energy policy
Democrats are focusing on affordability over climate goals as midterm elections loom.
