The rare & beautiful violet sea snail - a predator of Portuguese Man O’War & by-the-wind sailors. It lives its whole life at the surface of the open ocean, using a bubble raft to stay afloat. It’s normally more common in warmer waters but occasionally seen here

I saw a lady cardinal at our feeder this morning. She was chipping every few seconds and fighting off every sparrow trying to get food. Turns out she was just saving a spot for her mate!

CA endemic bird Yellow billed magpies, very limited range. Gorgeous, vocal and intelligent Corvids. I hung out with about 20 of them in the oak studded wine country of Paso Robles a few days ago. Always a treat. Lots of interactions with Acorn woodpeckers also, each doing their own thing. 🪶🌿

(Actually he & Mrs have had a second brood, so he's having to take food to them as well. Hmmm, maybe he has gone for a calming break 🍺. 🤔) #Birds #AustralianWildlife
