i feel like we're sleepwalking awfully fast through the tired old shit where tech companies show off how invasive they are in our lives and intellectually lazy, privileged, narrow minded people brush it off as harmless for a couple of years before it turns and bites them.
Some people actually want this.

If it actually benefited anyone, even marginally, you'd probably see mass adoption regardless of the long term harm.

But it sucks, so...
NVidia chief creep says resistance and scorn for AI have done a lot of harm. Good. Nice confirmation it's working. Keep it up. Although the main thing is this stuff is harmful crap so the mind and body tend to revolt against it automatically.

This slot machine analog nails it, I think. The inherit almost gamification with inconsistent rewards is part of what hooks people who get addicted to LLMs. “Maybe this time it won’t work, but maybe the next prompt will give me something amazing!”
It’s yet another form of gambling, in a way.
I tried vibe coding for the first time this weekend and failed spectacularly. Which was actually kind of illuminating.

A tale of three apps. Identical post sent at the same time:

Twitter: 136,000 likes, 20,000 shares

Threads: 46,000 likes, 4,000 ahares

Bluesky: 149 likes, 45 shares

To be clear, I have 60k followers on Twitter, 15k on Bluesky, but only 7k on Threads.

I love Bluesky, but this isn't sustainable.

Analysts say AI profitability was overestimated, as rising data center and inference costs could lead to a $207 BILLION industry shortfall by 2030.

This is true. Not only that but some developers can hire you AND avoid all your suggestions. I've been a consultant on a couple of games. One of them came out having utilized absolutely zero of my recommendations.

It was a complete disaster critically and commercially.
If you think *any* consultant can influence games to a detrimental degree, your opinions about game development are too out of touch to be worth regarding.

Most of the time, even actual writers don’t get a final say over a game’s writing. The complex approval process is often above their heads.
