Very disappointed in the new Nebula Award eligibility information from SFWA that allows partially-generated works to be on the ballot. See 9.11.2.

Anyway back in high school I was in a magnet program that used to admit 50% boys and 50% girls.

Right before my year, parents of boys complained and demanded strict merit-based admission.

My year was like 80% girls so shoutout to the boymoms for making sure their sons didn't steal my slot.

Trump’s pardons wipe out payments to defrauded victims
In addition to clearing prison sentences, the president’s clemency actions have erased millions in restitution payments.

Every single democratic senator voted to confirm Marco Rubio as Secretary of State. Every single one. Not one “no” vote.
Q: Do you stand by your statement from earlier this year that nobody has died from USAID cuts?

RUBIO: I'm very proud of the changes we've made in foreign aid

There's a bunch of stuff here but one thing going on is that it's interesting that Trump/the admin *owns and operates its own platform* vs using, say, the Respectable Nazi Bar Not Really A Newsletter Distributor Anymore.

DNC *could* stand up their own distribution.
Americans want leaders who fight for them.

Last week, I stopped by the DNC Winter Meeting to celebrate the wins we shared in 2025 and lay out how we fight against this administration and for our future. Watch now or read my remarks on Substack: kamalaharris.link/3YCdXb4

ahahahahaha yes Labour Together you should definitely set fire to Labour's workers' rights agenda just as the country's biggest trade union votes for a leader who thinks you're shit. that's definitely a good idea.

(I don't think for one moment that the govt will actually do this)
I have my criticisms of *aspects* of the employment rights package, but this is an insane proposal, both in policy and party management terms

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

Which so many trans people said was exactly what was going to happen
You know a thing that is very bad about this? This is the anti-trans playbook being played against women. Start with 'has the x movement failed the people it's supposed to help', then infantilize them, then make the case they can't be responsible for their own choices, then take their rights away

Nope. Sex Matters have long been banging the drum of "you can't change sex therefore transition can't work as a treatment and we should stop offering it to trans people"

it's what Helen Joyce's whole "huge problem to a sane world" shit was about.

They are 100% going for banning all transitions.
Also, this is I think the first time I've seen Maya / Sex Matters actively come out and say that they don't think transition should be allowed for adults either? It's always been 'well adults can do what they want, we are worried about the children' - not 'this is a failed model that doesn't work'.
