In case you're curious what your DA is doing instead of standing with the community who got viciously tear gassed by ICE this weekend:
1. Covered trial call for a photo op;
2. Prosecuting a misdo resist claim against an
ICE protester to run cover for the PPB cop who broke that protester's arm.

We cannot have normal responses in abnormal times. This moment requires incredible imagination, leadership, and a willingness to step outside the bounds of normalcy to protect everything we hold dear.

I also don’t want to discount that police are in a genuinely weird spot. The Feds have power over them jurisdictionally.
That doesn’t mean they can’t do anything!

They could be tracking and documenting ICE incidents, collecting info on munitions, turn evidence over to the District Attorney, etc

Police should not get paid to only address Portland protestors & not protect Portlanders when federal agents have crossed horrific lines

There are ways to act that are not directly interfering with ICE if that poses a legal problem, and we need leadership to get creative in outlining/directing that

People that wanted to simply “reform”ICE (whatever that means) are ready to abolish it after ICE tear gassed a crowd of peaceful protestors without issuing a dispersal order this past weekend.

Their own cruelty is radicalizing people, and these same people see that our systems can’t withstand it

At the City Club event last night a room of about 150 people, majority white, majority middle aged, clapped when I said if the police legally can’t protect us against federal agents they shouldn’t get more money.

Can’t wait for @schumer.senate.gov to bungle this opportunity to free Americans of the tyranny of Trump and Miller’s DHS.

Instead of letting it shut down he will announce some deal full of concessions to MAGA that saves DHS funding as a win, & we’ll all hate him even more than we did the day before
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Thursday that demands made by Democrats for new restrictions on federal immigration officers are “unrealistic” and warned that the Department of Homeland Security will shut down next week if they do not work with Republicans and the White House.

I dislike being told what to do so much that I just rewrote a line of panel description in my own script that said "Pull back to show...", because it might piss me off later when I go to draw it 😂

It’s a congressional money laundering grift 👇🏾

• Palantir receives hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded government contracts to provide DHS & ICE with surveillance tech.

• Palantir then bribes Congress with OUR tax dollars to ensure favorable legislation of renewed contracts continue.

No we don’t. 🙅🏽‍♂️

We want ICE abolished!

Btw, Palantir is one of the largest contractually rewarded surveillance tech companies providing ICE with surveillance tech that they use to track down & kidnap immigrants.

Chuck Schumer also receives bribes as campaign donations from Palantir lobbyists. 👇🏾

gaiman slinking back into the world is why i always bristle at folks decrying "cancel culture" as some kind of danger. none of these dudes are ever voided, at worst they get an inconvenient year of not being fawned over and then they come back and just peddle the same shit to a smaller audience.

That also goes for our District Attorney Nathan Vasquez who ran on crushing protestors to appease business interests.

Those politics fed into this moment, and now the moment demands a massive pivot or they will go down in history as obstructionists to stopping fascism.

We are at a crossroads. The Police Union can choose to stand with Portlanders, to stand against fascism, or they can continue to obstruct policies that would reign the feds in because they see a kinship with corrupt law enforcement and not with the good people of our city.

There is a choice here.
The current Portland City Councilors who are endorsed by the police union are:

Smith (D1), Ryan (D2), Novick (D3), Zimmerman (D4), Clark (D4)

Listing them because the Portland Police Association is making it a fight to have a masking ban (for law enforcement) and a tear gas ban.
Please list the swing vote councillors specifically so people know who to contact. With everything going on in the country right now, it's hard to keep up with who is doing what, especially now that there are so many of you.
February 1, 2026 at 7:22 PM
It's so crazy because all the cops have to do is side WITH the people, and stop doing fuckshit, and all of their problems would disappear.

But they're allergic to not being the problem, so they firmly plant their flag in perpetuating their own negative image, & everyone else's poor opinion of them

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

Step up or step off, @mayorkwilson.bsky.social. It’s ok to admit that you should just be running a company instead of a city in turmoil.
Hey @mayorkwilson.bsky.social, it’s long past time to enforce the teargas prohibition edict at the ICE facility!

If you aren’t made for this moment (and it certainly seems like you aren’t), you need to tender your resignation, effective immediately!

Because right now you’re complicit in this!
