Target still lets ICE roam free in their stores & stage in their parking lots, often this one at the Quarry in Mpls.

The most annoying facet of AI marketing is people like this braying in your face that it's here to stay because their stock portfolio demands it. Meanwhile actual tech innovation is getting kneecapped because AI made ram cost $5000 🙄
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

But yeah, my general philosophy on WFH is that I will give it my all in the pages, but if I don't have any kind of sales performance incentive, my job ends when I turn in those last files.
The time and energy to promote books goes toward my own.

Anyone who follows my work knows that I go HARD on promo for books that I have a stake in (I believe my work single-handedly revolutionized the way BOOM! does book trailers, and I have receipts on that).
I even made a whole YouTube channel of OTHER STUFF just to promote my books in the videos.

People love to romanticize the lack of supervision many of us had. In my case it wasn't some bucolic childhood ideal, it was bad parenting.
I got lost on a bus alone in downtown PDX @ age 11, ended up in the perennial Worst Part of Town, (Old Town at Union Station). I'm lucky I wasn't disappeared.

These are not “like” concentration camps, they ARE concentration camps, and we all need to stop calling them any other bullshit the media is trying to get us to call them instead. “Holding facility” “i c e facility” “staging area.” How do you listen to this and not want to throw up?
