I had a ton of fun with IT: Welcome to Derry. Don't believe the haters. Great kid actors, over-the-top set pieces, nice period piece representation showing '62 which they hadn't done on a big budget. Chris Chalk. And new stuff from Pennywise. Still holding out on spider iconography like the book.

I know it’s exhausting. I know you’re sick to death of Trump. I am, too. But as he revealed yesterday, there is no limit to what Trump will do to assert his power. Your activism, courage, and attention are needed now more than ever. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/sunday-thought-the-looting

Portland: about the most laid back place to live.

Also Portland: will organize and mobilize a coordinated protest in just a few hours.
A few hundred people are gathered in downtown portland to protest the Trump administration’s attack on Venezuela. A broad coalition of groups is present. Maybe 350 people here so far.

Portland city councilor Mitch Green, a veteran, speaks at the rally, which is about to march through Portland. He says this is a local issue, because city can’t fix potholes when the U.S. instead spends money invading other countries for oil.

imo this is a good example of not just opposing the strike (like many dems are) but actually treating it like it’s a 70-30 issue for trump that undercuts a major reason his supporters like him
Trump must be impeached immediately. This is not how a democracy functions.

Moulton: "When we had briefings on Venezuela, we asked, 'Are you going to invade the country?' We were told no. 'Do you plan to put troops on the ground?' We were told no. 'Do you intend regime change in VZ?' We were told no. So in a sense, we have been briefed, we've just been completely lied to"

Waking up to the news that the US has bombed Venezuela, kidnapped its president, and will now seek to decide its fate (i.e. “liberate” its natural resources). We don’t have money for basic infrastructure in our local communities, but we can always start new wars? Absolutely sickening.

For 50 years, the median wage of hourly workers stagnated or declined while the stock market and CEO pay skyrocketed.

Is it any wonder why so many feel abandoned by the system? People lose faith, and a demagogue fills the void.

This is why we must fix the system.

Happy New Year to residents of the City of Portland who no longer have to fear Detective Erik Kammerer.

He has finally "retired retired" and, while we (via FPDR) will continue paying him 6 figures until the day he dies, it is unlikely that the City will ever hire him back.

bsky.app/profile/marc...
Wish granted.

Of course, since Detective Kammerer was never actually disciplined ... for anything ... keep your eyes open for where he goes next while he continues to collect his 6 figure pension from FPDR!

Congratulations to the City of Portland for getting rid of a tremendous liability.

Looks like former Chief Lovell is moving on from PPB at the end of the month.

Interestingly, there is no mention of Craig Dobson's demotion from Assistant Chief to Commander.

I don't have a deep thought but having grown up in Calif & certainly visiting NYC, there is something to be said for these kinda-ecosystems and getting good polices going there.

Meh, complain about policies, not the price of boots that were apparently on loan. Should she have worn basic boots? Did you compare that with anyone else's boots? It's such endless BS.
