Charlie has always been a great advocate for Kickstarter comics and often convinces me of the benefits if used correctly!
With the discussion of long-form, creator owned being a hard sell right now. There is a place it can and is still thriving - Kickstarter. More and more creators are going there with the intent to serialize. Is it more work? Probably. I've mailed 1400 packages since June.
However...

Yep. Terrance Moses in Kenton who runs a nonprofit doing camp cleanup says a lot of it is construction junk from folks who charged their customers for hauling. Cleanups are better than sweeps.
Like, this is a damning indictment against every NIMBY in Portland, OR & Vancouver, WA attributing our trash problem with encampments.

Our unhoused neighbors are being blamed for the illegal dumping of housed people, because housed people don’t want to pay to dispose of their garbage properly. 👇🏾

The Speaker of the House shut the chamber down for two months to block the release of the Epstein Files and the president is huddled in the Situation Room of the White House to formulate a plan to keep them from being released, and I don't know why you crazy libs think there's some kind of cover up.

It never ceases to feel weird seeing that person basically confessing to his crimes in real-time.

There are a lot of Portlanders who consider themselves progressive but turn reactionary when they see visible poverty.

The urge to just make poverty disappear from sight instead of working toward holistic solutions is why we don’t have nice things in this country.

Poverty is a social creation.

Here's another piece about how Portland's methods, ie sweeps without bountiful supportive housing and services for people to be "swept" into, do not work, and kill people www.propublica.org/article/port...
Portland Said It Was Investing in Homeless People’s Safety. Deaths Have Quadrupled.
The city responded to an increase in homeless deaths by intensifying encampment sweeps and adding emergency shelter at the expense of permanent housing. Experts say this has perpetuated the problem.

I know these 3 things: The sun will rise, the sun will set, & tech bros will try to somehow convert the comics medium to digital. I dunno, I always got the families and the lapsed readers. I very rarely saw folks who wanted another screen in their life.

I voted for COFFIN MOON, happy timing because I just finished it yesterday (& loved it!). Please vote for it if you are so inclined.
Hey, happy to announce that COFFIN MOON made the opening round ballot for the Goodreads Choice Awards! Somehow it makes me reading all my one-star reviews worth it. Of you're down, I'd love it if you voted for your favorite horror novel of the year! Thanks much.

BIG NEWS: Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva will finally be sworn in as a member of Congress tomorrow.

She is likely to be the 218th vote on the Epstein discharge petition, which would force a full vote to release the Epstein files in their entirety.

Gave a public comment about the council amendment to cut some of the Portland sweeps budget. Lots of 'oppose,' sign up to do that or to give testimony at the actual meeting on Wed. to 'support' if you are so inclined. Sweeps are so horrible. www.portland.gov/council/docu...
