Always blow on the pie, Doug!
* New Zealand takes pies (namely, handheld meat pies) so seriously that there are National Pie Awards that get major media coverage. The New Zealand National Library has a whole dedicated category for “Pies — Competitions.”

You can recreate the social tabs apparently

bsky.app/profile/text...
Many people have noted that the Primary / Social / Forums / Updates tabs are missing when you do this 👀. You can recreate these manually using the "Multiple Inbox" setup in settings. Basically, tell your inbox to include emails tagged "inbox" and exclude the social / forums / updates.

What kind of absolute monster says this to the Pike River families
"There are accidents that will happen. What I'm wanting to focus on is, how do I improve the overall economy and the situation that businesses and workers find themselves in?" - Van Velden. #PikeRiver
"She seemed to be focusing all the time on the employers and I sat and listened to it for a little while and then I just couldn't stand it" - Sonya Rockhouse. #PikeRiver

The bastards.
The Government is banning new patients from being prescribed the most common form of puberty blocker and is explicitly aligning NZ's future policy on this matter to the UK's. PR below.

Breaking: Line of Duty has been confirmed for a seventh series, BBC has said.

17 million people saw the series six finale in 2021. Steve, Ted Hastings (like the battle) and Kate are all reprising their roles.

I’m watching “The Twelve” and Marlon Williams plays Sam Neil’s son and in the episode they play a Marlon Williams song so in that universe Marlon Williams exists and his doppelgänger is getting stoned with his estranged dad drinking wine (from Two Paddocks?)

Also some very pleasing intel that Hard To Find is not going to leave Auckland, no matter what happens to its current digs which are on the market. Which is a very good early Christmas present - book shopping on line just doesn't float my boat.

I got a lot out of this collection of historical and geographical curiosities of Tongariro National Park. It’s a Pākeha history, although there is discussion of pre-European land use and tikanga.

The combo of walled-garden social media and AI replacing search means the death of the useful/open/free internet. Why would anyone create anything when it will just be summarized by AI and no one will ever see it? When social media deprecates outbound links, how will anyone find original content?
