I know people think I’m too woo-woo about theory and capitalism and markets. But I sincerely believe this kind of degradation of micro-trust is the real social and economic rot. We constantly feel scammed and then we start reacting like marks instead of mutually reliant humans.

I want to point out that this is how executives and others on Wall Street talk. They say in earnings calls, for example, that the market is demonstrating that they can raise prices on necessities, that consumers are "willing" to bear price increases.

lmao, i saw that turkey prices are up 40% due to feed additive tariffs and all canned goods up by 5% due to aluminum tariffs so Walmart cut the number of products from 21 to 15 this year and a single store's promotion is not a good measure anyway
