Me, trawling through a week's worth of articles on trans people from the mainstream papers, looking for any of them to even mention the host of UN experts calling out the UK because of their treatment of trans people...

Finally, I think it's all starting to hit me. I decided to go swimming today - first non-work thing I've done since the judgment came out - and when I got out of the pool I just started sobbing.

So many people are going to get hurt. And I don't have the power to stop it.

It hurts every time someone suggests unisex or disabled loos as a “solution” to the trans bathroom question as though the idea of our segregation is reasonable

One thing, I do feel allegory is powerful and important, and the X-Men are often (not always) a great example of that. Sometimes, the reader is doing the heavy lifting in this.

It's just that I also feel marginalized people need representation IN CANON and not as robots or aliens sometimes.

Cis women in Ireland need to talk to other cis women in our lives and pour water on the kind of thinly veiled, soft-sounding bigotry that's creeping into people's social media and minds before we fully go the way of the UK. TERFs are claiming to speak FOR us - we need to speak for ourselves. Loudly.

Whatever gender criticals say about trans women, they are certainly doing themselves.
so, there's this "gender-critical" woman called nicola murray who was involved with anti-trans activism, and she recently got done for noncing on kids (one of whom she referred to with a transphobic slur) and I found her twitter profile and

I feel sick again

I will always keep using the womens bathroom like i have for the past decade, and my entire adult life, in this country

Arrest me, beat me, kill me, you will never get me to surrender my womanhood
Bridget Phillipson here, confirming that the government’s position is that trans women must always use men’s bathrooms when out in public.

If an MP is doing the rounds insisting that trans women have to use men's toilets, the interviewer needs to be asking what law says so, and what the consequences would be for breaking said law. At the moment what we have is a supreme court ruling and *advice* flowing from that.

If what you're seeing is a lot of angry trans people online, this might be why.

3 years ago, "biological male" was a term of abuse thrown at trans women by anti-trans folk. It first appeared on the BBC in Sept 22 when Ed Davey was interviewed by Justin Webb. Today, that abuse is law.

Kemi Bdaenoch is being openly transphobic in response.

That’s the choice in parliament:

- open transphobia and hate, or;

- glad handed bullshit covering transphobia

While both are trying to strip away Human Rights and legal protections.

So today we've had:

- Equalities minister stating trans women will be treated on men's wards
- Labour MPs saying you can only be gay/lesbian if you don't date trans people, with the government saying yep this'll be backed up by EHRC guidance
- The PM saying trans women are men
- Labour MPs 1/3

In the wake of near-absolute legal victory, where the UK Supreme Court interprets a law with "common sense" and twists itself into contradictions to hand them everything they wished for, they are still miserable because they are not being thanked and apologized to for being unrepentant ghouls.

New Gist: Trans rights are Data rights

An unusually long Gist on the data protection implications of the UK Supreme Court's decision to define what is the meaning of the word 'woman' in a single UK Act.

The Gist: Trans rights are Data rights
A UK court has made a decision defining genders which has put it at odds with a less noticed, more important, decision from the CJEU. This is the Gist.

In response to calls to ban parties from pride for their transphobic politics, I think one thing to make note of is that if you're a politician in a transphobic party, instead of standing at pride you could speak at parliament about the shame the government's failure on trans policy brings you.
