Yeah this is why at the end of the day, I'm always basically arguing at the margins. Will is flatly correct that the vast majority of what's going on is social media/media generally, particularly because 2008 was not really that fucking long ago.

Anne Rice vampires generally don't get that involved with humans or readily make more vampires, so most major characters are only a few generations removed from the original vampire of pre-dynastic Egypt. Akasha->Rhoshamandes->Benedict->Mangus->LESTAT; Akasha->Teskhamen->Marius->ARMAND.

People are never allowed to tell me that they care about microaggressions, etc. ever again if they disagree with this statement. "Well *I* don't think they should be offended by it" ok that's also what people said about that.
I'll say it again: if any other ethnic or religious minority said "please don't use this particular term or chant, you might not have bad intentions but it is deeply racist and threatening to us", the reaction would be mortified apology.
