It’s like opening a grocery store selling pure puke. Cans of throw up and bags of barf and cartons of hurl. “Why does no one want to buy my regurgitate? Are you Luddites? I’m just flooding the zone! Look at all this food I have carefully prepared! Feed, you foolish doubters! Do you hate nutrition?”

I'm going to be a bit more precise. The problem w the headline is that it reproduces Fox News memes that renewable energy is itself fraudulent—ie, not green, no better for enviro, etc. That's just not true. Worse: that's not even what the piece or the underlying book is about! 1/
Yes, we need critical analyses of climate and capitalism. No, we don’t need Fox News headlines in the Nation or exhausting, one-sided takes on green political economy.

My lab's been attacked by an anti-wind group and their lawyers. They threatened the science funding of my whole university, to shut me and my undergraduate research assistants up.

NYT just covered it. 1/n

The IRA was surprisingly effective at spurring investment in green energy. Where it failed was making it *politically* sustainable by delivering immediate tangible benefits to the public. In that sense, the Green New Deal was, in retrospect, the more prudent and realistic approach. on.ft.com/4n4Ayra

look I'm not myself a political scientist so I can't say what effects it would have for a spate of politicians to crop up saying "the enemy is the oligarchy" and "the enemy is billionaires" while swinging a kettlebell but I think we should try it for science and see what happens
My name is Graham Platner and I’m running for US Senate to defeat Susan Collins and topple the oligarchy that’s destroying our country.

I’m a veteran, oysterman, and working class Mainer who’s seen this state become unlivable for working people. And that makes me deeply angry.

Fellas, do you ever think about how fascism is imperialism turned back on the metropole?
Comer: "We're gonna support doing this in other cities if it works out in Washington DC. We spend a lot on our military. Our military has been in many countries around the world for the past two decades walking the streets trying to reduce crime. We need to focus on the big cities in America now."

Challenge accepted, Amy. So here's one bull case for the energy transition.

Chinese economic growth will fall as a result of Trump's tariffs. Its leadership is already discussing injecting a stimulus. Now typically stimulus in a carbon-heavy economy is more emissions, but... 🧵
I’m gonna say something that is going to sound crazy, but when has that ever stopped me from saying something publicly: there is a way in which the U.S. chucking its position in the world could actually fast-track energy transition. A few things that have me thinking this way 🧵

Solid turnout at Berkeley today. Hundreds showing up to protest the science and education funding cuts. UAW 4811 also organizing a lobbying push for SB 829, which would create a CA state-level science funding organization similar to NIH/NSF.
