My lab's been attacked by an anti-wind group and their lawyers. They threatened the science funding of my whole university, to shut me and my undergraduate research assistants up.

NYT just covered it. 1/n

Another judge has just ruled that the Republicans' stop work order of Orsted's Sunrise Wind project in New York is unconstitutional, for similar reasoning as in the other offshore wind cases that have all been won.
🚨 BIG CLEAN ENERGY NEWS: New York's Sunrise Wind, which will produce enough power for 600,000 homes, has been given the go-ahead by a federal judge to resume construction after being unlawfully paused by Trump.

This now means that ALL FIVE offshore wind projects halted by Trump have won in court.

Taxation without representation.

With 28.6 million people now paying the US, Venezuela should be demanding statehood, with 2 senators and 32-33 seats in the House.

That's the number they'd get using the average state population per seat.

34 seats in Congress.

10/ Politicians igored them because warnings alone do not compel action in the face of organised vested interests.

Fossil capital.
Extractive industries.
Short-term political incentives.
Institutional inertia.

These were always the real obstacles, not a lack of credibility.

9/ Which brings us to the real lesson, and the part that tends to get quietly skipped.

Policy-makers didn’t ignore environmentalists because they were naive or soft.

They didn’t ignore security and military analysts because they were idealists.

They ignored both.

Some nice coverage of our new report on who's blocking action on climate in the Rhode Island legislature.

Yet 21 of 22 priority bills of statewide climate and environment organizations in 2025 died in committee.
