Married, old gay guy in Brisbane.

Copywriter by day but I swear you’d never know it from my posts.

May post shirtless selfies in the future so I’d appreciate it if family and workmates could stay the hell away.
Listening to an 80s mixtape and the vocals are split between the most beautiful, soulful voice you’ve ever heard and your niece and her mates at karaoke.

My husband and I have been together so long that when he puts a pair of speedos on I can tell he’s going swimming.

The Zohran press conference is your regular reminder that the entire administration folds like tissue paper at the slightest hint of confidence and conviction, and thus the fact that national democrats are playing a game of capitulation and weakness is exactly why they're all getting away with it

Watching “The Phoenician Scheme” which feels like Wes Anderson doing Peter Greenaway. There’s a lovely misanthropy at work here.

Cheery moment before beddies: here is a picture of trained-bird-act maven Madame Marzella in bejewelled pantalons and sparkly stage tights, costume jewels, feathered giant hat, cape, embroidered stomacher and, well, parrots. Macaws, possibly? Her husband did the lighting. c1890. Night, night.

What an amazing essay from the former chair of Africana Studies at Bowdoin. I'll share a few sections in the reply but seriously, read the whole thing. It's all insightful and beautifully written.

It’s remarkable, the people you’ll hear from. Teach for even a little while at an expensive institution—the term they tend to prefer is “elite”—and odds are that eventually someone who was a studen…

Josef Sudek  was a Czech photographer.
Originally a bookbinder, Sudek was badly injured during action by the Hungarian Army on the Italian Front of World War I in 1916. Although he had no experience with photography and was one-handed due to his amputation.
Remarkable.

It's important to note the fact that Wendy Carlos, whose 86th birthday is today, was the first trans woman to win a Grammy award, in 1970, for her iconic classical album "Switched-on Bach," recorded entirely on the Moog synthesizer which she helped Robert Moog develop.

Too many reviews praising High Noon, a film in which the sheriff asks civilians to help him take on armed gunmen then condemns them for saying, “Dude, we’ll all be killed and aren’t you the Sheriff?”. Howard Hawks thought it was unspeakably stupid and made the much better “Rio Bravo” as a rebuke.
