As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Starbucks employees have long fought against consistently unpredictable schedules, short staffing, low pay, and unfair labor practices.

Today, @sbworkersunited.org is striking to demand progress in stalled negotiations.

i feel confident saying that zohran mamdani has likely never said or done anything as remotely antisemitic in his life as the horrifyingly islamophobic things being said and done right now by people in positions of power and authority in the jewish community in reaction to him

You know who the real freeloaders in this country are? Not people who rely on SNAP, but corporations whose business model depends on wages so low that taxpayers have to feed their workers.

ICE arrested a Chicago father whose 16-year-old daughter has Stage 4 cancer. It’s spread to her bones, and she’s undergoing aggressive treatment to try to save her life. They don’t know if she’s going to make it—and all she wants is her dad back. This is cruel, and it’s not making anyone safer.

the world sucks so bad right now that it’s hard to know where to begin - but here’s one thing you can do, if there’s room in your heart and home 👇
The manager for the Downey Animal Care Center, urges people who are in a position to adopt to stop by to visit dogs like Canela, a five-year-old Belgian Malinois. A total of 18 animals have been turned in due to the deportations.

Growing up I learned that Nazi salutes and calling people shylocks were bad and had never heard of the phrase "globalize the intifada" until a few months ago
I’m starting to think that some of the people saying “stop antisemitism” mean it with the same inflection as: “Stop…Hammer Time!” Like, take a little break from what you’re doing and enjoy some antisemitism.
Trump tonight in Des Moines, talking about the estate tax:

"if you love them, or if you love somebody that you're leaving [a farm] to, think of that -- no death tax, no estate tax, no going to the banks and borrowings from, in some cases a fine banker, and in some cases shylocks, bad people."

Ok that’s it this is a concerted group effort there is no denying it. The Dem establishment got together in a back room and said “how are we gonna stop this man from making change in the party he is too dangerously progressive and popular.”

And then they all agreed “use the Jews.”
Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell says of Zohran Mamdani: "I don't associate myself with what he has said about the Jewish people."

It's easy to forget now but we had decades of steady advancement on trans rights. The 2016 bathroom bills invited huge backlash! It was only after the media constructed sports and youth medications as 'debates' that opposition moved from the far right to the polite center.
The repression of trans people is not, by and large, a grassroots outpouring of hatred from the American people. It's something that's been carefully planted and tended over years by a handful of media people and their pet reporters.
Heightened Scrutiny, a very good doc about the Supreme Court case that was just ruled on, does an impeccable and infuriating job laying out just how culpable the NYT and Atlantic are for the nation’s transphobia www.avclub.com/sundance-202...

what people seem to believe is that there is a large number of criminal, layabout immigrants who can be easily found and deported. they support doing so snd are dismayed by the deportation of otherwise law abiding people. the problem is that the criminal group is imaginary!
Wow. New CBS poll finds majority (55%) supports the *general goal* of deportations, but a bigger majority (56%) dislikes how Trump is carrying them out. And 63% want due process.

Again, we need a better discourse around public opinion on immigration, as I've argued:

If you are one of those people scolding those of us who say it's time for old ass reps to retire, know you're part of the reason all these Americans got fucked.
House Republicans just passed a bill that will kick 14 million people off their health care, take away free school meals for 18 million kids, and raise our deficit.

Now it goes to the Senate but we need to keep fighting.

The only appropriate response to this is impeachment and removal from office. Every moment the political press spends spinning out theories about 2026 and immigration polling is a minute they are not spending asking Republicans in Congress about their plans to enforce the rule of law

We’re literally watching overpaid techbros who have spent their sad little lives making online shopping software marginally worse openly, viciously lash out against people who have literally devoted their lives to helping others via humanitarian aid and government.

The implications are obvious.
Another dynamic I see with noxious techbro eugenicists and rationalists: they tend to have such pissant little jobs making such boring and trivial products - shopping buttons! banking software!

and I do think they’re aware of this on some level, which fuels their batshit lofty rhetoric.
The first tech bros who appeared in public to muse about how we need to end humanitarian aid because the poor are less *human* than soft-handed Palo Alto-ites who program online shopping buttons for a living should have been driven from society with pitchforks and torches.

It’s not too late.

This isn't anti-DEI - it's retelling history as a story with only white men in it. The tale of the Navajo Code Talkers is essential to understanding the Allies' victory in WWII. Removing it because the people involved were non-white is segregationism.
