The relevant briefing noting that Burlington remained a party in the district court, discussed in today's letter, appears to have been the parishes' brief — which was filed on November 13. www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/24...

Alito's recusal notice came 56 days later.

Given Bovino's presence, worth noting that DOJ vehemently refused to let Bovino testify about any direct orders he was getting from Stephen Miller abt his Chicago invasion.

Short of a Nice-style mass killing event, there's no legitimate reason for a cop to fire into a vehicle. Even if the driver is headed straight at the cop, it won't stop the car. This is why so many police departments prohibit it.

The FBI sniper at Ruby Ridge was prosecuted by Idaho. The federal district court initially dismissed the charges but was overruled by the Ninth Circuit, allowing it to proceed. The case only ended when a new district attorney was elected and decided to drop it.
Remember: Federal officials do not enjoy categorical, absolute immunity from state-level prosecutions. They are entitled to removal to federal court. But conduct that is unreasonable or unnecessary for the execution of their law enforcement duties is susceptible to criminal prosecution.

Sadly this is correct, and no one likes it because people want to see punishment. The same process that created the problem cannot solve it. The only way is to remove power and money (which are the same basically).
I want people to realize prosecuting the police is always a long shot and even when successful that it hasn’t produced any observable change in behavior from the police in general.

Hey so this modern terror squad is doing exactly what they were hired to do. This has always been about terrorizing residents into submission. He didn't cozy up to dictatorship fans for shits & giggles. He idolized them and wants to be one.
ice agents simply aren't trained well enough to be on the street. they are a genuine danger to citizens

While CBP and ICE are giving piss-poor training, more training really won't stop the problem. Greg Bovino is very well trained. The call to train better will just be pouring money into a violent organization that literally trains people to be violent.

After posting on the White House website just yesterday that Ashli Babbit was "murdered in cold blood," the administration states that the victim of the ICE shooting in Minnesota was justifiably killed as a "domestic terrorist."

Law enforcement officers CANNOT use deadly force against a fleeing person fleeing unless they have a reasonable belief that the individual poses a danger to others (e.g., they know the person is armed). If in vehicle, the person must be threatening to use deadly force with the vehicle or other means

🚨NEW: Federal officers like ICE agents have been routinely prosecuted by states for violating state laws, up to and including murder, since the 1800s.
Minnesota has every ability to do this with today's killing of a motorist by an ICE agent.

As a killing in Minneapolis is documented, the law clearly stipulates that federal agents do not have universal immunity.

I know people believe that the Democrats are in the minority and can't do anything. I would encourage you to read about how, in fact, minority parties can be disruptive. If they want to be. You don't even have to read. You can just see how the Republicans acted during the Obama years.

REALLY important to note homicide has dropped sharply all OVER the place, in places that have a lot of diff policing tactics.

That doesn’t mean that what the NYPD did was irrelevant, but also def means that you can’t simply say “we did x, then crime fell,” bc a lot of not-xs saw similar drops.
“When asked about reforms he has promised, like eliminating the NYPD’s gang database and outsourcing many mental health calls to a newly created agency, he deferred to Tisch.

“At this time, there is no change planned to the crime-fighting strategy that has delivered historic results,” Tisch said.”
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch touted today how the department's crime fighting tactics are working, saying she sees no need to change them.

Standing next to her, Mayor Mamdani — who promised various NYPD reforms during the campaign — didn't object. www.nydailynews.com/2026/01/06/a...
