i think the argument the cavers should’ve made/should make is “i couldn’t let people starve - we made a run thinking they would fold on aca, but trump really is that psychotic”
that’s an argument i think people could respect, but the won’t even make it

I've noticed that there isn't much talk here about the current internecine war that is unfolding on the right, spearheaded in large part by Nick Fuentes, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I know this shit is insane and feels bad. But this is a mistake (1/)

This year, salmon reached parts of the Klamath where they hadn't been seen in a century. Let the joy of the river peoples be a fitting monument to Dick Cheney's passing.
Salmon seen for first time in century after historic Calif. dam removal
In an impressive feat, the salmon have crossed over the river's remaining dams.

UPDATE: Reached out to the Rev. Hannah Kardon, a United Methodist minister who was there that day and has been active in religious demonstrations at Broadview.
“They are making it clear that they are scared of prayer … it speaks the truth that what they are doing in that building is evil.”

YES. This is what I'm saying.
I can steelman/defend AI *in itself*, but when you see the figures on "AI is bolstering the economy," you absolutely have to understand that "AI" means "computer" to nearly all the big budget people. This is "IT modernization," mostly of as you say very old systems.

ICE grabs father by the neck—send him into violent seizure while his arms lock up around his toddler.
"He's having seizure and they're trying to rip the baby out of his hands!"
Agents then handcuff him—before putting in ambulance with his child.

Plea bargains exist because of knowledge of the system; that knowledge includes “I will not have the time to do this case the justice I would want if this were me” as well as “The judge will impose a sentencing penalty for my client requesting his rights.” Both are obscene.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

There had better be trials. And not just for the low-level thugs carrying out these orders, but for everyone up the chain of command.
If we get past this, the solution isn’t to pretend it never happened and invite Stephen Miller to Harvard’s Institute of Politics.
It’s trials w real punishments.

Her husband told her that detainees at Broadview had to get up at 5am to get in line for one bathroom. He often peed himself. One time he had to wait until 2pm to use the bathroom. You could only use the bathroom once a day. He said the agents would beat you if you used the bathroom on yourself.

cannot emphasize this enough: we need to push the mainstream political discourse towards mass prosecution and execution of ice agents
it doesn't really matter if they actually get killed by the state, but we need to build towards a society that widely agrees they *should* have been, morally

He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.
