Excited to be heading back to Park City one last time for Sundance in January. I'll be doing some coverage for The Ringer, but should also have the capacity to pick up a few reviews if there's a need for them out there. Editors, let me know!

NEW: We’ve uncovered the first known example of taxpayer money flowing from DHS to businesses controlled by Kristi Noem’s allies and friends.

It’s part of a money trail that’s been shrouded in secrecy—and involves $220 million, a mysterious Delaware LLC & a horse named Gill.

This is how you know this very, very bad for the right: They're now trying to move the goal posts to "Actually, Epstein did nothing wrong."
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

BREAKING: At Pope Leo XIV’s urging, U.S. Catholic bishops just delivered the strongest rebuke of a sitting president in Church history — condemning Trump-Vance raids as “inhumane” and “dehumanizing” in a 216–5 vote.
NEW: At Pope Leo’s Urging, Bishops Issue Historic Rebuke of Trump’s Raids
Nearly all U.S. Catholic bishops united in Baltimore to denounce the Trump administration’s “inhumane” deportation campaign — a near-unanimous, unprecedented moral stand against a sitting president.

awesome. 🙄
To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?

One horrific thing to me is that the president- a man who has gotten away with everything including literal murder up to this point- seems extremely nervous about anything regarding Epstein coming out. Like how bad does it have to be

“Of course he knew about the girls.”

Those are the only 7 words every news agency should be using today (and every day) until the full Epstein files are released and every abuser is held accountable.

This headline is journalistic malpractice. This isn't Epstein "alleging" that Trump knew. This is Epstein and Maxwell discussing - in 2011, long before Trump had political salience - how the FACT that Trump knew might play out

Both of them took as a given that this was a fact in a private email

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

These people really are useless, you know. They believe in nothing, they ret-con bullshit excuses to do or not do what they were planning on anyway.

What "evidence" were they looking for -- the fact that Republicans wouldn't negotiate with them WAS the evidence!

Wow, what a shame Durbin is retiring. What will we do without very useful statements like this? Who will endorse the next Paul Vallas? Who will shake his head solemnly and vote for GOP funding bills?
Republicans are not “Nazis.”
Democrats are not “evil.”

Democrats are not responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk.
Republicans are not responsible for the murder of Melissa Hortman.

Opponents are not enemies. We’re Americans.

Eight centrist Democratic senators just voted to reopen the government in exchange for a promise of a Senate vote on ACA subsidies.
That’s not a deal—it’s surrender.
They’ve given up real leverage
for a handshake agreement that might never happen./🧵

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.
