Had this convo with my 17 YO niece, she knows social media is trash and AI is terrible, but it's the currency of their generation. She mentioned she wishes it didn't exist, so yeah reverence for untethered tech is not surprising to me at all.

This worries the shit out of me. My hood has trains, close to a mile long, coming through our neighborhood. We’re going to rely on technology (most likely AI) to ensure these trains don’t derail and dump what they’re carrying where we live and our kids play. Fuck that.
