I can’t be the only one who thinks about the Tennessee Waltz meta issue several times a week, right? Like in the universe of the lyrics to (our world’s) “Tennessee Waltz” there’s a preexisting “Tennessee Waltz” that they dance to. What’s it sound like? Does it have lyrics?

Fuckin crazy how the Netflix app for Apple TV no longer mentions the director of any movie.

I like how the last couple episodes of Slow Horses dropped in one super predictable plot twist and one completely wild one. Feels like they always have just the right mix of that per season.

Just watched The Third Man and figured I’d go check out what people think about it on Letterboxd and jfc, there are really users just trashing the incredible score. That shit is so good, makes me want to just listen to zither music the whole rest of the week.

*Almost* all of the notable franchises began with a film that would have been a perfect, complete statement if left alone.

this is wild: while Stephen Miller's guy was in Minnesota for his uncle's funeral, somebody was able to see his entire phone and take pictures of his Signal group chats talking about military deployments to Portland, and brought them to the Strib (gift link: www.startribune.com/trump-offici...)

I don’t hate Liquid Glass on Tahoe, though tbf I’ve only used it in short stints on a VM. I’d just say fuck it and install it today if I weren’t worried about issues with my nemesis QuickBooks Desktop.

Apple Watch SE 3 seems like a reasonable alternative to the Series 11 for $150 less. My wife’s Series 7’s battery isn’t what it used to be, and I don’t think she’d miss any of the feature deletions from the new SE. might even prefer the slightly smaller screen 🤔

boxd.it/1P5M Gonna try and rewatch a bunch of old musicals this fall. Oklahoma!: pretty good
Oklahoma! (1955)
In the Oklahoma territory at the turn of the twentieth century, two young cowboys vie with a violent ranch hand and a traveling peddler for the hearts of the women they love.

Over the past few years I’ve gone from “cars are sportsball, who cares, <yawn>, just buy a cheap one and drive it into the ground” to “We bought a second EV and I follow multiple EV blogs so I can know exactly when to trade up and for what”

Fantastic Four was fine I guess. Did not contain enough (any?) moments where the viewer realizes, right before the protagonists do, that they’re facing an obstacle that can only be overcome by stretching a human body exceptionally far.

They’re stupidly expensive, but I bet I would watch so many more movies if I had a fancy OLED screen iPad Pro, especially the extra-stupidly-expensive 13-inch model.

hey good news I’ve been informed that the people hunting down the subjects of viral videos will always be morally righteous about it, never accidentally identity the wrong person, and also always agree which transgressions are egregious enough to justify the internet detective brigade

This both breaks my heart and gives me hope in the ability to see one another's humanity after so much energy has been spent to teaching us to dehumanize one another
We received these images from Ramez, a protest organizer in Gaza. They’re part of an initiative in a campaign by the Gazan Youth Committee, in which activists hold photos of Israeli children killed on October 7th and after, inspired by the silent vigils held by Israeli activists. (1/4)

You should put two spaces after a period when:
- Writing a fax to your travel agent
- Penning a eulogy for your uncle who just died of "confumption"
- Addressing the constable or lorde of the duchy

Just some creepy armed Mad Max guys trying to gain entry to Dodgers Stadium.

ICE says it wasn’t them. DHS says they were Border Patrol. But honestly who the hell knows? They’ve given permission for any psycho to put on a ski mask, point a gun, grab people & throw them into an unmarked vehicle.

This is unfathomably shameful. How do we even have to debate this? Why would anyone ever again be so foolish as to trust or help the United States if this is how we treat people who risk their lives on our behalf?
An Afghan man who worked as a translator for the U.S. military during the war was detained by ICE after showing up for a hearing inside of a federal courthouse in San Diego, his attorney says. He fears that if he returns to Afghanistan, he would be tortured or even killed, @nbcsandiego.com reports.

New Nissan Leaf looks pretty nice, especially in turquoise. Like everyone else, I wish carmakers would hurray up with the smaller/lower-priced EVs. But I also wish they’d let you opt for a smaller battery with some of the fancier trims/options packages.

Fox News host Will Cain: "The 'No Secret Police Act' would ban local, state, and federal law enforcement from covering their faces when interacting with the public. Officers would also have to wear identifying information on them, like name tags. Hard to believe this is real!"
