Dad. Writer. Librarian. Lambda '18, Pitch Wars '19. I like putting characters in my transgenderification beam. He/they/it.
I get so much shit for having kids - I've been told more than once that I'm the straightest queer person ever because I had kids in my 20s. (It's meant as an insult.)

My kids are SO wanted. They've been my life goal since I was in middle school. They are my life's joy. Not some grievous error.
In queer spaces, parenthood is often met with so much disdain; largely a pushback against all the heteronormativity that's been shoved down our throats. I get it! But it makes for such a lonely path as a queer parent.

This is a stunning betrayal by Whitman Walker in DC.

You CANNOT jettison the trans community to protect yourself.

It’s shameful. I got my name changed at WWH. I have promoted their research.

Now they are capitulating to save gay people at trans people’s expense by trying to erase us.
NEW: Whitman Walker, a LGBTQ health center in Washington DC, has scrubbed its site of descriptions of gender affirming care services.

This is pure cowardice and stabbing the trans community in the back. While services are not affected, it will limit access to resources if patients can't find them.

Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes.

You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment.

My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc.

I am begging you and everyone I know. I’m not sure they’re listening but I am begging. This includes Flu and Covid! (If you didn’t already get them in the fall.) Get ‘em while you can.
FOR OBVIOUS REASONS, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE UP TO DATE ON YOUR VACCINATIONS NOW.

the thing that the Tea Party was the most successful at was getting the rest of the party in line with extremist shit, because everyone was terrified that they would be primaried by local car dealer Bob Q. Gunhumper

Dems must fear losing their jobs if they won't fight and purge Trumpists
the reason to systematically primary safe seat Dems in 2026 and 2028 is because they don't have the guts to do what needs to be done in 2029 even if they get the spine to do what needs to be done when under crushing pressure in 2025

I'm so friggin exhausted. All I can say is as long as RFK Jr. is running public health, learn his office phone number and blow up his phone at every mistake.
Not pushing back meanings people will literally die. Learn who is your state's health commissioner and be ready to bug the hell out of them.

SARUMAN: Lands a tenured position while still finishing his PhD

GANDALF: Trail of post-docs and teaching posts. People never sure what his institutional affiliation is. Drops in 'yeah that was when I was in Rhûn for 90 years'

RADAGAST: Lives by proofreading and eating the dandelions in his garden
Academics love Lord of the Rings because it's about a researcher (Gandalf) who does their dissertation on an obscure topic (Hobbit lore), wanders around doing post-docs, gets destroyed in the question session from hell but triumphantly returns and gets to take the golden-boy prof (Saruman)'s job

People see us screaming “DO SOMETHING” and they think that means we expect them to somehow make it all stop

When I think most of us actually mean “we are freaking the fuck out, can you please goddamn join us and tear some shit up”

“Can you show us that you understand what’s happening”

volunteering or anything task-centric is a great way to break out of isolation without having to make a big effort to talk to people. you just show up and do the thing. and also you’re helping make one small corner of the world a little better
volunteering is a great way to meet people. you can go hang out at a cafe. you can take a walk in the park and smile at someone else. i get that it's hard, i really, REALLY do. but you gotta just keep trying and find people to be with. it might suck! it might feel awful! but it's still preventative
