The biggest problem with popularism is the failure to acknowledge that tailoring policy and messaging to what gets you the most electoral bang for the buck tends to pander to right-leaning swing voters and donors, which is not coincidentally where most boosters of popularism are ideologically.

ICE using the same ruse that Ted Bundy used to kidnap people should tell you something.
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

It's an open question whether Trump will kill more people by:
A) Canceling aid to starving people overseas
B) Undermining vaccines to invite a resurgence of previously conquered diseases
C) Destroying efforts to address climate change
Add them together and it's obvious Trump is a mass murderer.

The long and the short of it is:
-gamers don’t know what they want
-content creators have positioned themselves as the “voice of the gamer”
-it’s established that negative content consistently drives engagement
-“everything sucks” has become the prevailing attitude cultivated by these personalities
What the hell are we even doing here:

They literally dragged a minor employee out of a Target as he was wailing that he was a US citizen, roughed him up in their car, and then dropped him off bloodied and bruised in the freezing cold a couple of miles away, so miss us with this.

People can have different political opinions about immigration policy. Political differences are fine, healthy for a democracy.

But if you’re okay with this, that’s not a political opinion. That is a moral failing.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

It’s extraordinary that the President of the United States upended a major project involving extensive trade and cooperation with an important ally right after a billionaire pal chatted with a cabinet member, who then apparently had a quick word with Trump about the situation, and everyone yawns.
Remarkable: Trump's deranged threat to block the bridge connecting Detroit to Canada is backfiring, giving Dems a big issue in 2026 races in Michigan, which could help decide control of Congress.

Michigan Dems tell me they'll use this against Republicans big time:

And thus they too started to produce content blaming Dems for everything wrong in the world.
