I love working #ConceptArt. Re-designing things or exploring completely new ideas from scratch. The iteration process of it. Trying to explore an idea while tying to make it workable withing the art direction & style constraints.

Last year I painted a test mini, a bunch of bases and got a unit up to the dry brush bone stage... then utterly burnt out and packed them away.
But now they are back! I want to paint up the unit and see if I can update the older ones a little.

Poor doggo had an issue this morning where one of her boggle eyes almost came out. A quick run to vet, and she is on some meds and has a cone for a few days.
Coming up stairs poses a repeat problem, but she soldiers on... poor little doofus.

I've never taken issue with folks challenging my opinion in good faith. I feel that my ideas/ideals should face interrogation & I used to get more of that on Twitter.
Part of the reason I left was it changed, for every genuine convo there was 100 slurs, threats or proffering nonsense as 'dunk'.

When GW added Fem-Custodes they wrote an real world post detailing the why (ie they were never specifically impossible, so we added them) & set the lore to be: From now on, they have always been there.
Those who didn't like it, pretended GW were gaslighting them about them being there before!

I think a skill a lot of us nerds lack, is the ability to let go of things that are no longer fun for us.
Either only engage with older versions, or move on.
Don't make your life raging about each change in a thing that stopped being for you ages ago or pretending doing so makes you the real fan(tm)

A lot of comp winning miniatures do things I struggle with: High contrast & gradients that don't have a lot to do with actual lighting.
Even if I get the skill to one day execute the process flawlessly, its just not a look I'm into. I have a pref for more 'natural' shadows, less extreme highlights.

So Daak and his chainsword appeared in 1980.

Think you're right. I've got the 1990 collected reprint which must have added Sylvester McCoy's panels to tie the story together which confused me.
But the 1980 DWW#17 clearly introduced the Daleks Killer.and his chainsword.

Someone posted a mini of Absolom Daak Dalek killer, and I flashed back to the 80s(?) when Doctor Who expanded universe had a bit of a 40k esk thing happening. A murderer sentenced to death has a choice. Execution, or go out fighting Daleks.

I grew up in a christian household where you could not say Merry Christmas:
My parents were at one point Salvation Army Ministers (Lieutenants). The SA has a strict no drinking/gambling/smoking policy (legacy connected to the Victorian era, so that its members spent money on food/family, not "vice")
