The things we should be doing to fight Trump are things we should be doing anyway. We’re in a technological revolution comparable to the early 1800s Industrial Revolution.

Organize. Unionize. Withhold our labor. Use our economic power. These are tried and true ways for people to protect ourselves.
There are lots of things wrong with Medicare Advantage (which now encompasses over half of Medicare enrollment) but one of the worst is that plans are constantly leaving unprofitable markets which allows remaining plans to raise premiums and cut benefits. The MA plan often then re-enter the market.

Dems should at least run on a Medicare buy-in for people who don’t have access to affordable private insurance. It would give the system time to adapt and possibly blunt some of the opposition, although the industry is now on constant alert against any steps toward M4A. jacobin.com/2025/11/medi...

The thing to watch on the possible Republican capitulation on ACA subsidies is how high subsidies go. Under Biden there was no income limit—no one would ever pay >8.5% of income. This will be important in the future because premiums increase much faster than income. www.politico.com/news/2025/11...

Trump has already ruined the ACA marketplace for 2025 at least. Not knowing how to price risk, insurers and providers are scrambling to exit their ACA contracts. We need a better way.
