I'm going to say Abaddon's Gate (my favourite of The Expanse series) and Mage: the Ascension 20th Anniversary core book. I will not hide what I am
alright let’s get something more pleasant going. what two books would you leave out on your coffee table so a reporter can mention you have them. doesn’t matter if you’ve read them. for me it’s Pale Fire (which I did read) and Ulysses (got like 15% of the way in)

Everyone involved in the publication of this kind of navel-gazing, apologist drivel should be drummed out of the Times and the fact that they won't be is more damning than anything the Times' critics could write about the paper
what the actual fuck

tbh, the scope of criminality described in barely-literate text and the scale of how many people involved are both genuinely really shocking to me

Many more people need to think about what outcomes they want and how to get there *before* events happen rather than just reacting based on how you feel when they do. The behaviour last night and this morning has been unhinged completely separate from the merits of any particular argument. I'm not

I have no predictions about what a deal will look like or even if it'll happen but I'm frankly kind of disturbed at how many people on this website do not appear to have a limit for how much suffering they think is acceptable if the GOP won't budge. Like, if your opponents are willing to be

People have worked themselves into a lather because Schumer has been unwilling to draw up the Tennis Court Oath but a shutdown fight is *exactly* the sort of terrain he's comfortable with and suited to
The amount of people showing their lack of ball knowledge by calling this 'caving' in the quotes is astounding.

This is extremely smart and doing anything otherwise would just shift the blame back to Democrats
SCHUMER is on the floor now making this offer to end the shutdown:

Clean CR
Bipartisan "minibus" of approps bills
1-year ACA funding extension
Bipartisan cmte to negotiate on health care

"This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability."

idk what to tell some of you, dems are the minority party in both chambers, there's very little they can do to force republicans to prioritize their demands in a budget request, but they can't just do *nothing*. doing nothing is what's driving the nosedive in republican approval.

It is good to interact with strangers in minimally invasive ways and you don't have to do that 100% of the time but you should be doing it way more than 0% of the time. People are good and your perception that they aren't is often the result of your inability to reach out because you fear rejection
there’s a thing here about for the last decade or so, online people have been very negative about small talk - the weather, or local news, or whatever - and small talk is the grease that keeps physical interactions going, and i am tired of ceding that to shut-ins
i say thank you to the bus driver when i get on and yell thank you when i get off every day i ride the bus, and i take two buses to and from work, being nice and friendly costs you nothing and should be your default expectation for yourself because it improves your day and everyone else’s day

Trump: "I want my cabinet to behave like [Xi Jinping's staff]. I'm demanding that....I've never seen men so scared in their lives...JD doesn't behave like that. JD butts into conversations."

Tonight, was another reminder: there is no single mold for a Democratic winner.

Progressives won. Moderates won. Rural, suburban, urban —they all won. Black, White, Latino, AAPI — they all won. We won in the East, South, Midwest and West. Victories in races from City Council to Governor.

.. Why are we trusting Axios, which is basically a mouthpiece for the GOP, again?

Why do we keep doing this over and over again?
This is pathetic - to give in over "a promised vote" - but this is what they were always going to do.

"A handful of Democrats will supply some eight votes for a new short-term CR in exchange for a promised vote on the ACA tax credits."

They are gonna trust the GOP.🤡

It’s time for the UCP to admit they were wrong and join us in denouncing separatism once and for all.
