This is why all of us felt to dismantle the entire system which includes the tenure process.
Looking through the e-mails, I was disappointed how many astronomers/physicists were in contact w Epstein. People who interviewed me for faculty jobs, were friends' PhD advisors, selected professional prize winners, were in charge of promotion & tenure. I felt like the tree is rotten to the roots.
The victims and survivors of Epstein’s crimes deserved better than these men (and sometimes women) looking the other way.
I’m also very conscious that these same people have had a lot of power over the lives of women and girls in science.

Acts of violence get presented as a type of intellectual curiosity, or act for progressing humanity. And the entitlement and violation gets reframed as a duty for empiricism.
Historically settlers have embedded empiricism into religious doctrines like "manifest destiny" and "doctrine of discovery."
What many ppl refer to as "science" and "objectivity" "legality" is actually just another way of saying empiricism. Which is a specific paradigm that says facts have to be backed by evidence or documentation.

Again, all I'm asking is that any Democrat who wants my vote support 1. Reverting Trump's anti-trans policies, 2. Commit to fighting against the future erosion of trans rights, and 3. Support legislation codifying trans rights into law.
