If you're new here, I will never accept that settler colonial nations have any right to exist. Decolonization means Indigenous land and life-ways back, no cops, no landlords, and probably other stuff that might twist up your ginch so beware.
In 2025 I put my health first and I'm so grateful I did. It wasn't until I began to recover that I realized just how bad things had gotten.

Tallying up my income for this year. Good lord. I made 40% of what I did in 2024. No WONDER things have been unbelievably tight. I kept sort of feeling like I'd done something wrong, that it was about my own management of money, but WOW.

Manitobans! Once a long time ago I saw a bunch of you talking about a Norwegian cake you eat that no one else on the prairies knows about. I think it was Manitobans. Any idea what I'm talking about?

And, although it is not directly about Indigenous peoples, my 2022 article in Agitate about the implications of the first autopsy of George Floyd, which attempted to absolve felon Derek Chauvin of responsibility in Floyd’s death, which builds from my 2018 article:

Anyway, back to my academic engagement around settler misuse of Indigenous dead:

My 2018 article based off of my master’s thesis, focusing on the attempted autopsy of Ojibwe peoples in Minnesota :

The hubris of settlers demanding constant access to the Indigenous dead has not gone anywhere.

Whether it’s white scholars claiming that NAGPRA is anti-science, or residential school denialists demanding exhumation of remains to validate the stories of survivors, this ghastly hunger is insatiable.

Fascist neo-liberalism is destroying our communities and our ability to earn a living. This is an existential crisis. No amount of boot-licking can save us, so why not work within your community to develop other structures of support? Survival, not exploitation.

I don't know why but I was thinking about George Burns today, looked him up and found out he was born in 1896. He was in show business his whole life, but had a career comeback at 79. Wild.
