Woof. The fascisms are really hitting me in the ability to post. HOWEVER THE ART MUST CONTINUE.

Posting one piece of art every day I can manage it #12 🧶

This one is still for sale, and while the camera can’t really catch it, there’s tiny lights inside the vines.

I think we’ve got better and more culturally-varied street food than I could have imagined, cool jackets galore, and drugs that make us think we’re really fast and strong before they kill us.
we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)

Separately, "I thought we would get cool tech shit in cyberpunk"

No, the fantasy of cyberpunk is that the rich hoard the cool tech, the poor are enslaved to renting it back and hacker wizards of the underclass are able to do quasi magical things in the technological refuse of late capitalism.
I can't help but wonder if the main problem with cyberpunk high tech low life romanticism for a lot of people in the imperial core is just that it allowed a lot of bourgeois fantasists to imagine themselves slumming it without...

Digging into the lore of yesterday's main character, and it ain't great, gang.
The guy who, according to this police report, once threatened to harm his partner and their newborn child, wants to school me about my professional reputation. Unfortunately I have a busy day of actual writing ahead, so I’ll pass. But I’ll post a Rick Recycling update later.

You can have a chronological feed or you can have algorithmic virality. You can't have both.

Okay look - the dunking on this as self-serving etc is all good (really) but I think there is actually a meaningful insight here into why X becoming a child abuse material generator basically had near-zero impact on a huge chunk of the progressive / left base still using it as a comms platform

This kinda happened to me once, but the driver just didn't admit he was lost until he drive an articulated bus up a cul-de-sac and that was pretty much that.
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

I suspected Jarmusch might be an asshole when I found out he was an anti-Stratfordian.
While Dead Man is a unique take on the Western, its basic premise (protagonist gets shot in the heart, is considered a dead man, gets chased by lawmen/bounty hunters & in the end floats out to the ocean in a canoe to die) was lifted from Rudy Wurlitzer's late 70s script Zebulon:
