1️⃣We've had a few new followers lately, so here’s a quick intro. We’re three friends who run General Witchfinders, a podcast about classic British horror—films, TV, books, and radio—plus plenty of tangents along the way. 🧵

James, the comparison of Faulty Towers and The Shining is perfect! The timpani work in this absolutely inspired the timpani work in The Shining! And the glissandos on the guitars & flutes absolutely became those shrieks and wails we recoil from in the corridors of The Overlook. Kubrick owes a debt!

Also this Radio Four programme on a Christmas Carol is v good. It's by Prof Christopher Frayling who always has good insightful things to say about film as well as being called Chris. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Check it out! Our question was featured! If #BigChrisLee had played The Master opposite Peter Cushing’s Doctor, which story should have been adapted into a 1960s or 1970s feature film?

Want to know what we have planned for the podcast in 2026?
Listen to our scheduling call, exclusively on our Patreon. It is mainly Ross reading out a long list of films, while Jon says they are boring. Excellent value for money.

If you’re in Dorchester today, pop into Teasle & Skylark bookshop and pick up one of our zines. It helps convince them we’re worth stocking again. They’ve also got a great selection if you’re after gifts.

If you’re in Leeds, you can grab it from Colours May Vary. (Would love a photo of it in situ)

Slightly blown away to realise this is a wig but you can tell if you look closely. His eyes are very distracting though.
I have been fascinated by wigs and toupees since I was about nine years old - I have always thought Christopher Lee’s hairpieces were particularly good - never ostentatious , always age appropriate
