But I cannot square the numbers on this guy. I just do not understand how he's still considered an A lister. Just a Hollywood mystery for the ages.

That may be down to the fact that I view all superhero stuff as essentially Elseworlds, and I'm more interested in what any given filmmaker will do with the property and how they'll riff on it rather than looking for any faithful or definitive take.

Just to muddy the waters more... I don't mind Leto as a performer. I think he's pretty great in the right role, all but useless in the wrong one. I dig him in The Outsider, a movie nobody saw, and, just between us, I dig his take on the Joker.

That's putting aside all the awful personal allegations, which seem to hover just below "actually cancellable/freighted with consequences". Which is why I come back to being baffled - because this guy is not a box office draw. I can't see how he's even remotely worth the hassle.

And while production schedules overlap, so you can't, for example, expect Tron's performance or lack thereof to have too much effect on Masters of the Universe, the stink has been on Leto for a good long while now.

Nobody is snapping "The kid stays in the picture!" when Leto's name comes up, is what I'm saying. But the formula is clearly broken. Morbius and Tron tanked, and even when you account for other obvious factors (franchises nobody gives a shit about) there's still the Leto of it all.

But I find Leto's ability to just... keep getting cast in stuff absolutely baffling. I assume that in the current corporate-controlled, risk-averse Hollywood landscape there's simply a formula that spits out a big $ sign when you plug in Leto's name and a budget level.

Unverifiable, possibly defamatory stories, mind you. Get me talking at a bar some time.

Which I guess would be frustrating, if your dopamine supply was dependent on being the loudest dog in the kill shelter.

You have to earn your numbers here. But that also means that the tactics that are effective on algo SM don't really work on Bluesky. Or not as well. Loud, emotive calls to inaction just fail to ring the bell.

You can get incredible organic reach on this site, but it doesn't reach the dizzying numbers of X/Twitter because those numbers don't reflect anything remotely tangible or meaningful. The algo and the bots flense away all real context.

That's basically it. You could technically have both with an opt in/out dealio, but that just leads to the death of the less profitable option.
