Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."
Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

Between this and the review linked below I’m glad to see I’m not the only one with serious issues about OBAA.

It’s not a bad movie, IMO, but my issues preclude calling it one of the best of the year.

Black Friday deal on HBO Max, 3 bucks a month for a year.

So so so so so tempted... 36 dollars across one year would be easy to justify with just a few movies and TV shows (as I calculate things).

It is damn impressive that the Pilgrims managed to travel all the way around the tip of South America to come to America on the west coast.

Not to get up my own ass about this, but does anyone think Elon Musk - a guy who talks about comedy so often - knows anything about the art of comedy or the history of comedy outside of what has been around in his lifetime?

Like, he's talking about roasting people here. What are the odds...
Everything about this might be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Whelp. While I dithered about it a little I ultimately came to the choice I always knew I would make: I’ve reupped my Disney+ subscription.

That this comes right after they announced the use of genAI slop in the future twists the knife a little, but I am Disney’s bitch.

At least for the next year.

I’ve flown back to the city I grew up in for a funeral. Spent a couple hours wandering around a part that is still familiar but also changed.

Dealing with wistful nostalgia on the same day that I see this stupid headline and lede.
Oh you mean the great architecture of the time, the days of vaudeville and early Broadway and - no? Just the child raping, I see.

One more day of work, then I fly out first thing tomorrow for the funeral.

Don’t care if I run into delays coming back, but I need everything tomorrow to go smoothly. Two flights, less than an hour window between first one landing and second one taking off.

So much potential for issues.

Seeing headlines that Disney is going to be putting gen-AI slop on Disney+.

I had been planning to let my subscription renew one final time, dedicating next year to watching everything I have on my watchlist and then canceling it. This... this might actually push me to cancel now, not later.

Two consecutive days I see skeets referencing Young Einstein. Coincidence, or did something prompt this?

Was Yahoo Serious mentioned in the Epstein emails?

The misconstruing of the ‘employer/employee’ relationship constantly makes me grind my teeth. Absolute ‘Up is down’ wrongheadedness.

I think the major fault is that people see politics as something to leave to other people and just forget about. There’s no civic pride.
The funny thing is the people who always bring up Bernie Sanders in my mentions always miss the fact that if I were a fanboy for any politician, it would be Obama. But we shouldn’t be a fanboy/girl for any of these people. They are our employees and we should hold them to work standards.

Buying cross-country round-trip tickets a few days before the trip at a time when a bunch of flights have been delayed or outright canceled because of the government shutdown.

You don't want to know how much I'm being bled for this.

Oh, so they want their customers actively harassed now.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

‘Positively the gayest screen event of the hour.’

There are so many people who need to step their game up, then.
This Day in Buster...November 6, 1920
The Akron Beacon Journal prints this advertisement with Buster Keaton and Sybil Seely in "Convict 13," "Positively the gayest screen event of the hour. A comedy that has achieved one of the few genuine laugh sensations."
