💫📚 books read in 2026 📚💫

I'm aiming for 90 books this year, with a goal of reading more literary fiction/more works in translation, so let's see how this goes!

Staff at a Twin Cities yarn store put together a pattern for a red knit “Melt the ICE” hat inspired by the Norwegian resistance.

They thought they would attract 10 people to a weekly knit-along.

They’ve sold 70,000 copies, raising more than $250k for immigrant aid groups.

Honestly nothing feels different here today at all. There are still ICE raids all over, they're still letting people out at Whipple into the cold with nothing, and like you said, people still need food and rent money.
please remember that no matter how many “ICE is losing in MN” articles you read today, there is still a very real, urgent, ongoing crisis in Minnesota.

people need food and they need rent money. that has not changed.

it's such a cool thing when you feel a new muscle memory start to click into place; last night I was spinning and giving chain-plying another try (a way of making a three-ply yarn with only one single) and while the yarn is a MESS, I felt myself catching the rhythm more and more

UGH I love spinning

making a great showing at the first session of my current writing class, where I yet again talked too much about interiority, and then got too granular about the definition of "speculative fiction"

Hi everyone, there are a lot of new faces here, and it's been a helluva day. I just want to ask a couple things:

1. Whether it's through my work, @adenng.com's, or anyone else's, please spread the word about AltNPS's behavior.

You can find me here, or (unfortunately) still on Substack:
The Alt National Park Service Can't Stop Posting ICE Raid Fanfiction
To AltNPS, real-world brutality is just fuel for the Content Machine.

The altnps account is the 13th most followed account on Bluesky and has more followers than every single news outlet other than the NYT, NPR and Meidas Touch on here. They actively spread misinformation and exploit gullible old people for cash. Accounts this unethical do not deserve to exist.
Completely insane. AltNPS claimed to know the name of Alex Pretti's killer, refused to say it because "the truth always comes out," and then just deleted the post.

A man was executed on the street in my hometown, and AltNPS is using that as an excuse to vaguepost for attention.

The Minnesotan intifada has my support.

At this time, I’ve been thinking about folks who are scared and who cannot flee to safety for one reason or another. We have a word for resisting through persistence: sumud. Staying and taking care of your community is a valiant cause.

It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you free to abandon it
It can be a hard pill to swallow but you have to accept that while you will prevail in this struggle, you may not be there to witness it.

oh good I can leave a "thank you, keep it up, DO MORE AND DO IT LOUDER!" message for McGovern tonight
Fine, I did it myself: As of 1/21 evening, 14 Democratice Members of Congress support abolishing ICE, including @joaquincastrotx.bsky.social, who used the term "disband" on @mehdirhasan.bsky.social's show.

Four more have supported abolishing ICE in the past.

I'm sure you've heard this before and I don't want to sound like a scratched record but if you're someplace that doesn't usually get storms and cold like this one, or you've only recently moved to someplace that does, treat this fucker with the respect you would give a kaiju.

MN protestors #protip put 2 Idaho Russets in the oven at 420 degrees for 45 min, take them out and foil wrap, 1 in each pocket before you go out. Theyll stay warm for 3-4 hours even in this weather and you can eat em when you like. They used to send us kids out like this back in the 70s trust me.
