93. Model Home by Rivers Solomon: I spent most of this book wanting to crawl out of my own skin, which is EXACTLY what Solomon was going for; a complex, paranoid, miserable exploration of generational trauma, of haunted families, and of being Black in America. incredible sensory prose!

can't believe she's managed to make Wuthering Heights seem even stupider to me than it usually does

(I am a Jane Eyre girlie)

her selflessness knows no bounds!!!!

thank you! they're just drying after a quick wash, but she was VERY meticulous about guarding them regardless :D

92. Notes From a Regicide by Isaac Fellman: extraordinary prose, unflinching and loving, equally intense in its condemnation of abuse of power and its celebration of trans lives and trans families; deeply sensory, though at times I think that undercut the emotion. still lovely!

I won't delete this email as soon as you give me a concrete thing you are going to do with the money beyond "another ad with vaguely uplifting music"

that is EXACTLY it! and every email is essentially the same: "this is the most important election of our lives/we're going to change the way the game is played/I will be a voice for you in Congress (or whatever)"

it's such badgering and it drives me up a wall

91. Barbarian Alien by Ruby Dixon: I honestly liked this one SO much better than the first novel in the series; Liz and Raahosh have a ton of personality and I do love the romance of being in isolation together. I wish these books would do more with differing ideas of consent, but we shall see!

90. There Is No Antimemetics Division by QNTM: I have been obsessed with the SCP Foundation for years, and keep poking at my own entry into the canon (such as it is), which means I was PRIMED for this book. grotesque, paranoid, desperate, doomed

89. The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion: my first exposure to Didion's writing, which is truly as fantastic as claimed, and my sympathy for her while reading was off the charts, but I kept being distracted by what I felt was a LOT of name-dropping, in the midst of beautiful thoughts on grief

88. Pandemonium by Susanna Strom: a post-apocalyptic biker romance, that was advertised as having zombies but really just ended up with a rotating cast of disposable dudes orbiting the heroine; decently written, but the heroine's constant "I'm going to lose my feminist card!"-ing is so tiresome
