"They just want to push this Vision Zero bull***t."

Diequalifying for a traffic professional but this comes from a former city traffic engineer with a terminal case of car brain.
Former chief traffic engineer says DOTI was right to scale back Alameda ‘road diet’ plan
Was the city right to back off on its plan to narrow Denver’s busy East Alameda Avenue from four lanes of traffic to just two lanes — settling instead on a plan that eliminates a single lane and leave...

Evergreen:

The first thing cops say after an incident is always a lie.
Black folk will tell you: The 1st thing cops say after an incident is always a lie.🤷🏿‍♂️

They lie because there's upside in it for them, and no downside.

No matter how many times they get caught lying, newspapers will print their next lie as the gospel truth.🤡

And people stop caring before truth hits
ICE lied about the person it shot, claiming he was a "criminal," but NBC finds that he had no criminal history whatsoever. Not even traffic tickets in 12 years! It also lied about the extent of the injuries to its agents....

As a map guy this still is the most sane explanation and it still makes my stomach and brain cry out.

Fucking... Fucking MERCATOR!?

Really any course on GIS and mapping that doesn't point this out isn't being nearly harsh enough.
you studied defense procurement, seapower, sociology of the military......but its secondary to the fact that a likely dying old man has been hypnotized by the mercator projection into wanting greenland

This is what it looks like when a city is more comfortable sending bodies to the morgue than cars to the body shop.
Less than a week after they were installed, many of the flex posts on the BU bridge have been destroyed by vehicles. Appreciate the thought but cyclists clearly need more protection at these intersections.

Okay, first of all, no one is talking about congestion pricing in rural areas.

And second, if you want to talk about "the right to travel," how about all the people who cannot drive and live in places with little public transit or where it's nearly impossible to bike, walk, or roll safety?
You didn't say that in as many words. I admit misinterpreting because I'm toggling to a different "fuck rural America" tab of skeets. However, you are talking about "reducing car dependency", which will inevitably infringe on the right to travel. Congestion pricing on public roads is exactly that.

Apropos of some of the car brain discourse today, I will note that people say "rural" like they live on a farm and in reality they live in an exurb.

It is quite tiring having discourse with folks who insist on cosplaying actual rural folks

Doug is being shy here, he was excellent at the Denver live show. But I still listen audio-only while I do dishes and laundry
I joke that I have a face made for radio and a voice made for mime. I wouldn't want to look at me either.
Somehow 90% of my favorite podcasts have not yet pivoted to video, but I might just turn audio-only podcast purism into a personal shtick. Because the truth is, I really don't want to see anyone's face. No offense

There are people who try wiggle out of this, "it only counts if is modification X"

Nah man. Denver has a noise ordinance it doesn't matter what the specifics are. You can't blast noise because of a loop hole you made up.

Are noisy aftermarket mufflers illegal in Colorado?
Yes. Colorado state law prohibits any changes to vehicle exhaust systems that increase the noise mufflers make.
