Jim Avila rocked.

I was lucky to work with Jim when he came to work in local news in San Diego.

He loved being the smart guy in the room with younger reporters. We loved him back.

He’d send the kindest messages after stories. Like this one on my last day. He made me feel like a million bucks

Outgoing conservative DougCo school board member Becky Myers said the quiet part out loud. Then, just a minute later, she denied they were trying to railroad it through before the new board took over.

Regardless, the less than subtle attempt failed.

This may be the attention issues taking control of my brain in a guaranteed to be long Denver City Council meeting…

But isn’t the ceiling in this room very cool?

@ Trump White House ballroom: take notes.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston is advocating for Flock surveillance cameras, sometimes using false or misleading claims. His claim that Flock cameras solved a missing woman's murder is not true. Her mother tells our @spencersoicher.bsky.social she is "shocked and appalled" by the Mayor's claim.

Can’t remember a time when all three major pro sports teams in Denver were this good at the same time.

The Avs, Nuggets, and Broncos are all playoff teams and possible championship contenders.

Yes, all three major pro sports teams in Denver.

Maybe my favorite interview I’ve ever had as a reporter. And it’s not even in person!

This is Angelina Godoy. A researcher and professor at the Univ. of Washington.

Colorado’s two largest airports are not airing the new Kristi Noem shutdown-blaming video at TSA checkpoints.

But the reasons for not airing it are quite different.

UPDATE:
Flock says it is now pausing all of its federal pilot programs, including the one that gave local camera data access to CBP & Border Patrol.

Flock said it made the decision last week, which follows
@nexton9news.bsky.social reporting.
The company running license plate tracking cameras across Colorado has insisted that immigration agents don't have direct access. Flock now says they were wrong. CBP has access. (Using license plate info for immigration enforcement is prohibited by Colorado law) #copolitics

Thousands of police departments use Flock license plate tracking cameras to solve crimes. Flock has assured the public that immigration agents don’t have direct access to the camera data.

We found public records in Loveland, Colorado showing that’s not true. Flock now admits it gave CBP an account.

UPDATE: Loveland Police released a statement tonight, saying it stopped sharing data access with Border Patrol after filling our open records request this week.

Police Chief Tim Doran refuted Flock’s claim that the agency had a 1:1 agreement with Border Patrol.

NEW: 🧊ICE is buying an eye-scanning technology to help deport people.

Colorado has laws to regulate how local agencies use facial recognition technology. But there is no overarching federal law expressly regulating it.
