I'm generally not a fan of co-ferments (to put it mildly), but this Colombia processed with "mossto" — fermented coffee cherry juice from prior batches of processed coffee — is exceptional.

Caramel, cocoa, cranberry, pear... complex, fruity, floral and enchanting.

Wrapping up my year with some Ella goodness, a brand new Invincible character. Once again trying to step up choro, with mechanics and more interesting setups.

So thankful to the InvVS team for letting me show off their game. Lots more to come before release.

Peak CEO brain. It's not making things better in any demonstrable way. Employees don't want it, fans don't want it, and there are better ways to do things they *have* settled on using it for. But one day, maybe, somehow, hopefully, it might help them make one extra dollar, so he's gotta push it.
If I had known the two paragraphs about genAI in my article today would be so controversial, I would have expanded them a bit! Here's a rough transcript of the relevant portion of my interview with Swen Vincke, so everyone has all the context. (Full article here: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...)

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

I really think that even most people who think language policing was a huge problem over the past 5-10 years have no patience for the disgusting little freaks who have tried to bring back "retarded" as a slur. It's just so low-rent and such a tell that the person using it is not worth your time

Michael Bohacek, a Republican state senator from Indiana who has a daughter with down syndrome, says he will vote against redistricting in Indiana after Trump used the word "retarded."

There is no way you can guess how the thread that ends in this instant classic begins.

The lack of respect for fighting games is insane. The best esports player is probably a fighting game pro. The best ongoing game? Probably a fighting game. The best event? It's a fighting game tournament that has an open bracket. And not only do these never win, they're never *nominated.*
FF14 being nominated for best ongoing in a year when I have seen its players do very little but constantly complain about a quality dip, with devs even copping to it, while Street Fighter 6 on a total tear not even getting a nod is making my head spin

I need every beginner artist out there who thinks their work isn’t good enough to know that in this AI-poisoned environment seeing your raw, human art gives me fucking life.

Any imperfection born from a living soul infinitely trumps whatever “polished” slop they’re trying to force feed us.

If you the article, he's basically saying that AI is good for crunching data ("backward-looking"), not for creativity ("forward-looking"). It's a pretty moderate take, that acknowledges what ML (and, frankly, *not* GenAI) can actually be good at.
