Always a great sign for how things are going in your country when 21-year-olds are like “hey, I innovated a system to play bagpipes in tear gas”
Jack Duffy attaches a respirator to his bagpipes to play through tear gas. “I always play it whenever the police retreat because it's like, ‘You fucking ran while we stayed,’” he says.

You need to temper and steel your hate just as much as you need to feed and grow your hope. To both sing Hallelujahs and shout their perfidious damnation. There is no moral arc of history but the one we bend with our own bare hands, together.

Agreed.

Republicans put Trump the White House—even though they KNEW he was Putin’s puppet & accused of raping a child along w/Epstein. It was widely reported in 2016.

This should be the biggest scandal in American history.

The GOP needs to be voted out forever.

Unhelpful distortion and binary thinking. That book says no such thing. It’s more like, nonviolence was the public strategy that won the moral and legal war, armed self-defense was the private reality that kept the organizers alive long enough to win it.

I disagreed with Scalia about a lot of things but I remember being struck in some case where he wrote, basically "the government argues that being required to follow the Constitution would make law enforcement's job harder. They are correct. That is the point."

The idea that protesters get routinely assassinated is EXTREMELY hysterical and unhinged. It’s Qanon level conspiracism. I find it very disturbing that it’s apparently endemic in left spaces like Bluesky, given how much it distorts people’s ability to think about civic participation and dissent.
Epstein killing himself is way more plausible of a theory than "American oligarchs routinely assassinate political agitators"

Phil Murphy killed a bill meant to codify restrictions on how sheriffs and police can partner with ICE. Some restrictions remain in place, for now, due to an attorney general directive.

It’s incredibly common and longstanding; it’s been written on insightfully (see press.princeton.edu/books/paperb...). Learn things!

Trump is controlling EVERYONE with fear. Politicians, foreign nations, universities, industries. "What if he does something to me?"

Well, what if he does?! Is that the worst thing anyone has ever experienced? Time in jail? A court fight? You lose your job? Is that worth your god-given free will

The paucity of this man's mind, a truly bereft and barren landscape of ideas. In the desert of his imagination, all things are a mirage, generated by the only spark inside him, which is pure unadulterated racism. If his mind was an engine it could only putter along on these phrenologic vapors.
