They say you are what you eat, but I don't recall eating a disgruntled elderly woman.

I may follow back, but not just because you followed me. Feel free not to follow me, really. And if you've already followed 10s of 1000s of accounts, I'm blocking you.

It's also that they were both running against the single most unqualified, unprincipled, horrendously dangerous candidate who's ever run for the office, but somehow people who claimed to recognize that still couldn't vote for them.
"It's not about women, it's just those 2 women."

"We've only ever had 2 women run for that office."

"It's the quality of their policies." (LOL)

I'm so done.

The part of being a woman in academia where you have to constantly gut-check whether your mentor really thinks your work is good or if he’s just waiting to try something* is EXHAUSTING.

* sometimes it’s both and that’s worse
Look, I know this weaponization of male academic interest is the oldest story in the book, but it’s just so, so pernicious. It’s awful to the women directly involved, but it’s also awful to *all* women in the academy, who have to live in its shadow all the time.

NEW: Gregory Bovino is exactly who E.B. White — author of 'Charlotte's Web' — warned us about.

DHS named its North Carolina anti-immigrant effort "Operation Charlotte's Web." In 1940, White wrote of the "smell" that "rises" from those who "adjust to fascism" over freedom.

I saw some people who I don’t know talking about something I don’t know about here on this very website.

Rather than demand that they stop their discussion and explain what’s going on to me, I kept scrolling and will soon forget about it.

This option is available to you as well!

Oregon literally banned freed slaves and black ppl from living or owning property in the state.

Ofc they didn't do this by passing a law.

THEY PUT IT IN THE STATE CONSTITUTION.
OREGON WAS FOUNDED TO BE A WHITE ETHNOSTATE.

We vote blue but when we amended the const. to remove this, 29% voted no.
I think we need to be careful with conflating "leans Democratic" with "not racist" Maine has a long legacy of racism. So does Oregon which is a blue state. Oregon was literally conceived as a white supremacist fever dream. And the KKK ruled Indiana for a period.

Libraries purchase books. When you see a book at the library, it isn’t “free”

the library bought it.

which in turn means that the community bought it.

In other words, library books are not lost sales for authors and publishers; they’re positive sales. Active sales. Those are bought.

If women are underrepresented in STEM, it's at least partly because men like this offer mentoring, then embarrass themselves by assuming their mentees must be into them, then decide the best solution is to cut ties, which sends the signal to other faculty that the mentee must not be good enough.
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.
