Polaroid circa 1981 -- I am sitting in the stern of a rowboat on the lake in El Retiro, a park in Madrid. I'm holding the oars, and may even have been rowing, but I think this was mainly because my boyfriend wanted his hands free to take pictures of me. I'm wearing jeans, a black sweater, and a brown leather jacket. My head is thrown back and to the left side, and my eyes are closed. My hair was long and on the border between curly and wavy then, and in the photo it's a bit windblown. Behind me a monument of some sort is visible. The photo was taken in the late afternoon, and the combination of the gold-tinted light and the aging of the photo makes it look almost like a sepia tone. I would have been about 20.

People think that Trump figured out that posting what should have been a DM to Pam Bondi was a bad idea and deleted it, but it's much stupider than that. He deleted it and posted A CORRECTED VERSION with Lindsey Halligan's full name.

This is a passage from "David Copperfield", by Charles Dickens, written 175 years ago. The dead character in question is a lawyer himself. It seems to be something that many, many people have always had difficulty with.

I would like to remind everyone of Pareene's deathless words on the topic of Mark Halperin, words that remain as true today as they were 13 years ago:

The Fisher King, beyond all question. One of my favorite movies, period. Amazing cast, and Williams is both hilarious and heartbreaking. If he was going to win an Oscar, this really should have been the role he got it for.
