The president constantly lying about stolen elections, after staging a coup attempt, & now threatening to federalize & steal future elections, should be the primary news story in the country 24/7 & on every front page until he is impeached & removed next week.

The incoherent doctrine on gun rights from political leaders of the right is maddening: ‘carry anywhere’ is treated as a virtue, until someone is carrying; then it’s treated as justification for deadly force.
Early DHS spin (via Fox News) is that the person shot repeatedly by Border Patrol officers in Minneapolis was armed -- note that open carrying firearms is legal with a permit and notably, they are not (yet at least) claiming that the person fired or even brandished a gun, just had one.

The winter weather threat in Texas is officially at "Ted Cruz goes on vacation" levels.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was spotted earlier today, January 20, 2026, on a plane heading to Laguna Beach as the state of Texas braces for a rare ice threat and arctic cold front.

I’m going to venture a guess that an “easier” thing to verify is “Did the agent follow SOP for shootings and request medical aid immediately” there should be a record somewhere (radio transmission, phone call to command center)
“Did the ice agents check her pulse” seems like an important question whose answer is incredibly damning either way.
Holy shit.

Renee Good was alive when the bystander physician asked to check her pulse. She was alive when ICE refused to let him help. She was alive when they told him “I don’t care.”

*Aggressively taps the civics sign*
*GOVERNMENT* censorship is bad. People need the freedom to choose for themselves what to read and how to think.

Private censorship? Critical and absolutely necessary, so long as it's appropriately deployed. That's just called exercising judgment!

I want this to be true, but many outside government don’t realize how quickly hiring has sped up. It went from about 90 days to work through cert lists to 15. Which leading to more unqualified people being onboarded.
There are only so many hours in the day, and only so many sycophants willing to work for government salaries

Every hour DOJ wastes going through hiring, onboarding, federal court admission, learning how to not fuck up, etc is an hour they can't spent doing repugnant shit

Why is quitting good? Don't they just get replaced with sycophants?

BTW, my personal number one priority for an incoming Dem admin is "pass a law that ends qualified immunity and creates a cause of action against federal officers who violate rights, expressly making it retroactive to January 2025"

John Oliver did a piece several years ago about the issues the Border Patrol had with their mass hiring. We are doing this all over again except the expectation is that these brown shirts explicitly antagonize and attack US citizens.

Another honest-to-go “Forever a Lion” wish him the best of luck. Will forever remember 2020, holding my month-old daughter, trying to figure out how to properly celebrate that penalty save against NYFC while she was snoozing.
An unforgettable chapter 🦁

The administration has frozen ALL persons with ties to the 19 countries in the executive order. Doesn’t matter where you are in the process your status is put on hold until the administration deems you worthy.
Immigrants ‘plucked out of line’ at citizenship ceremony at Faneuil Hall “the cradle of liberty”.

If you ever claimed you want immigrants to do it the right way, this should outrage you. On the other hand, If you think this was okay, you need to come to terms with your white nationalist views.

I know that
@dieworkwear.bsky.social has broken down men’s formal wear; however, it’s amusing to me that, to the casual observer, most men wear super plain, boring outfits whenever they wear formal wear. So, when you add clown shoes to the formal wear, it's beyond parody.

I absolutely hate how spot on this is going to be in five years
the liberal Rogan will eventually be Rogan
Joe Rogan and Theo Von slam DHS for using Von's image in a video promoting deportation:

"I was like, oh my God, what the fuck are they doing? That's not how you envision the government."

"They were making, like, deportation hype videos with trap beats and shit. What are we doing? It's idiocracy."

It’s remarkable to me just how much better the chemistry improved once Jerry Orbach came on board to Law & Order. Like it was improved with Paul Sorvino, but it certainly was a far cry from the Logan/Briscoe power duo.

Any Democrat voting for this should be primaried as quickly as possible because they're stupid, aren't capable of recognizing they're winning, are incapable of representing their constituents, and are cowards not up to this era's challenges.
Senate Democrats asked for a year of ACA subsidies and were told to fuck off.

So they came back and asked for a pinky promise to hold a vote on ACA subsidies that they will assuredly lose?

Seriously?
From what I have seen so far this does not seem like a good deal:

My 5-YO was trying to recall the name of the cyber truck and described it as “That Minecraft car” and I don’t know that owner knows they’ll never recover from that burn. 😂😂😂
Steve [to our children]: “My Substack newsletter is about to reach 100k subscribers. Isn’t that cool?”

7-YO: “How is that even possible? Who on earth would want to read that thing?!?”

Watched John Carpenter’s The Thing on 4K and it is as gloriously beautiful as @jamellebouie.net said it was. I also watched The Crow on 4K, and it looks very nice. Both feel like entirely new movies, with crisp and clear film scans.
