Personally I've moved so far past anger at most Dem politicians in this moment beyond a couple local exceptions. Disdain & contempt are the closest terms. Just fundamental inability to rise to the moment while refusing to get out of the way for someone who might.

Homicide: Life on the Street finally being in syndication means you can just happen upon one of the finest hours of TV drama, “Three Men and Adena.”

like, I'm not sure "take the peaceful high road!" and "just hang in there while assholes gas your neighbors' toddlers!" is tenable as any sort of long term strategy? At some point there needs to be actual, physical protection of the public?

The people I blame the most for the current situation are:

1) John Wilkes Booth
2) Trump
3) Elon
4) The Cabal of the Fascist International writ large
5) Merrick Garland

Lamborghini Somali is the new Cadillac welfare queen.
Vance: "If you're in Mpls, and you have a person who came to the US impoverished two months ago and all of the sudden they're driving a Mercedes or a Lamborghini, it is your job as a public official to ask how did that person get so rich so quickly when they're also collecting a welfare check."

Every day is like the parable about the man on the deserted island refusing to be saved by boat, helicopter etc because he's waiting for God's help, but it's about any Democrat with a backbone and an iota of charisma being offered the chance to become the next president by simply describing reality.

Walz activate the MN National Guard to protect our neighbors from ICE challenge
Mayors Frey and Her as well as the Governor better have a response ready for this DHS surge. Tim Walz can be a hero on the way out by pulling out the stops to protect Minnesotans.

and honestly, I'm selling this short; suffice it to say a Democratic base that holds that "everything Trump touches must be bad" is so obviously correct on the merits, borne aloft by years of evidence, that to think anything else brands you as a collaborator or a fool

Beyond critical at this point is to attack every premise that the administration presents as justification; and I wouldn’t be shy about constantly and viciously feeding the “Trump is doddering, mentally infirm, and about to die” narrative

Anticipating an early and utter failure didn't take great insight. Trump has a track record of spectacular failure; and Trump's charactistic laziness and disorganization has been amplified by his rapidly advancing dementia and choice to surround himself with the most incompetent stooges possible. 3/

2:19 AM. I'm seated on a chrome stool at the counter of the PIPSQUEAK CAFE. the bells on the front door jingle. a stoat jostles my elbow, spilling my coffee. his brow is low and his glare full of invective. drawing my cutlass, I slay him where he stands. I am forcibly removed from the PIPSQUEAK CAFE
imagining an all night diner in a redwall world. little rat smoking while cooking on a flaptop. burned coffee in an acorn mug. the whole thing is inside a pumpkin

Winter coat!
Fur thickening, fluffing up,
even if you weren't a stoat,
you're turning into one now;
long and slinky,
little ears and legs,
shrinking, gone in the snow,
bouncy, scampery ermine,
ready for anything~ ✨

Are #mustelids disappearing from the Netherlands? 🤔

The common #weasel, #stoat, and the European #polecat are very elusive #animals, which makes them difficult to study.

🧪Our researchers from #GELIFES and others have written a #publication about monitoring them:

Love this. Winter cities are legitimately harder to make walkable and livable. But the thing is, that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

As with many things, it starts with ending the illusion that we’re the first city to attempt it (or anything). We can make cities work for pedestrians and bikers!
You all already know what I think about municipal plowing so I’ll just add: we don’t get be “Bold North” or Winterapolis, or get cold place bragging rights if it’s only for people who drive cars. That’s it.
Montreal and Quebec and Winnipeg are showing us how it can be done, we have not even tried.
