Painful. An opportunity to rethink flying? Frequent jet travel is incompatible w/ a livable world. Jet emissions are rising fast, permanently worsening Earth’s climate. Most flying is done by a wealthy % of humanity. Most flying is unnecessary.

Pledge to fly less:

@flightfreeusa.bsky.social
We're already above 1,600 flights cancelled today, according to FlightAware, and we're still days away from a final vote a reopen the government. It sure seems like the flight situation will get worse before it gets better.

It’s not just Schumer.

The Dems job is to cave,
come up one vote short,
get blocked by the parlementarian,
mired in committee, etc

It’s why large Corps, billionaires & foreign countries fund thrm.

If they didn’t cave, lose, come up short
the Corps/billionaires wouldn’t give them a dime.

If you divided up Elon's trillion dollar incentive and gave it to people in need, you could give:

Every SNAP recipient $23,809
Everyone using the ACA marketplace $41,152
Every federal worker $333,333

People in need won't get it. Let's make sure Elon doesn't either. #NoTrillionaires #teslatakedown

Occurred to me tonight that the good things that Mike Judge created (that I really loved) are becoming to painful to watch with time, as America descends into madness.

This Administration says there’s no money to feed hungry kids, but:
• Billions for a new war in Nigeria
• Billions for Argentina
• Billions for another war in Venezuela
• Millions to blow up boats
• Millions for a ballroom
Amazing how the budget’s always empty when it comes to feeding the poor.

This week some of up dressed up to mock Trump and the oligarchs who are openly wrecking our society.

And yes, in spite of our very fine outfits (in San Jose and Palo Alto!), TSLA shareholders still voted to give Musk a pay package worth up to $1,000,000,000,000!

Along with everything else, Trump admitting the shutdown led to a bloodbath for Republicans should at an absolute minimum lead Dem Senators to shelve their apparent plan to prematurely cave. He's admitting he and the GOP are in a weak position, Dems. Exploit that!
Trump to Republican senators: "I thought we'd have a discussion after the press leaves about what last night represented and what we should do about it and also about the shutdown and how that relates to last night. If you read the pollsters, the shutdown was a big factor, negative for Republicans."

1.5C is now unachievable, 2C will soon be too!

For years, but especially for the past year, Democrats have been in thrall to the idea that they need to chase an imagined median voter, and adopt that voter’s positions. Mamdani’s victory shows another way: hold principles, and persuade people to share them.

Schumer had a chance to repudiate the gutter racism and Islamophobia of Cuomo's campaign and he just fucking didn't. And that is disqualifying. He should be ashamed and we the voters should make sure he feels that shame.
Reporter: Today is election day in New York City. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: Look, I voted. And I look forward to working with the next mayor to help New York City.

So many people were detained extrajudicially, were tortured, or died because of Dick Cheney. You can't get to the danger we're in now without everything he did. The weapons he helped forge are ones we need to take away from U.S. presidents forever.
