ICE chases a young boy out of his house as he screams “I’m legal!” In Spanish.

It’s freezing in Minnesota. This kid is desperately trying to cover his bare hands as he’s shoved in the snow.

He could end up with frostbite in a matter of minutes.

The masked thugs don’t care.

Abolish ICE.

The reality is that 2024 was a fundamental test of the moral character of the nation and we failed spectacularly. We’re living with the consequences now. Maybe we improve. I hope so.

Congress passed the Taft-Hartley Act in 1947 (over Truman's veto) to make general strikes so incredibly difficult to organize that there hasn't been one since.

That there is a general strike happening in a major US city on such short notice is nothing short of a miracle.
National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

All of this is to say that DHS is taking their war on civilians -- and especially on journalists -- to the sky.

And "war" isn't that hyperbolic when you look at their gear. They're literally flying predator drones over large civilian population centers as super creepy surveillance.

There's a call for a general strike for tomorrow, 1/23.

If you can strike, great! Not everyone can.

If you can't you can still:
go to a protest/rally
donate to a strike fund or mutual aid fund
be childcare for someone protesting
call/email your electeds
write an op-ed for your local paper
etc!

I really wish senate dems understood what's coming: ICE will be at every voting booth this November under the guise of "voter protection" in order to intimidate black & brown voters into staying home. They shouldn't vote for one more cent going to fund DHS & ICE. You can't reform this.

kidnapping a 5 year old to bait his father and then shipping them thousands of miles away should put you in prison, yes, but it should also cause every friend and family member you have ever had to permanently reject you in disgrace, and if they don’t, they share your shame

ICE detained a 5-year-old Minnesota boy coming home from school + took him and his dad to Texas, school officials say. The family has an active asylum case + entered the US at a port of entry.

"They’re taking children. They're not violent criminals. They're little kids," the superintendent told me.

Politicians who are not physically joining decent people in the streets to protect their neighbors from ICE are failing the moment.

What would they have done during US slavery? During the Civil Rights movement? During the Holocaust?

It's what they're doing now.

The most disturbing new trend in ICE behavior is agents escorting legal observers who are out patrolling our neighborhoods to their home, stopping, exiting the vehicle and pointing at their house. The message they're sending is pretty clear.

It’s horrible that apparently tens of thousands of Iranian protests have been killed by Iranian authoritarian monsters in recent days. It’s unimaginable how hundreds of thousands of mostly children have been killed by US authoritarian monsters in recent months (with many many more to die soon).
"To date, 757,314 people – the majority children – have died from the funding cuts, according to ImpactCounter, which tracks the effect of USAID cuts via sophisticated modelling tools. That is 88 deaths every hour."
