Painful. An opportunity to rethink flying? Frequent jet travel is incompatible w/ a livable world. Jet emissions are rising fast, permanently worsening Earth’s climate. Most flying is done by a wealthy % of humanity. Most flying is unnecessary.

We're already above 1,600 flights cancelled today, according to FlightAware, and we're still days away from a final vote a reopen the government. It sure seems like the flight situation will get worse before it gets better.

Along with everything else, Trump admitting the shutdown led to a bloodbath for Republicans should at an absolute minimum lead Dem Senators to shelve their apparent plan to prematurely cave. He's admitting he and the GOP are in a weak position, Dems. Exploit that!

Six environmental protesters were convicted after they were denied the ability to put a “reasonable excuse” defence or climate facts before the jury, despite these being afforded to other activists acquitted for taking part in the same demonstration.
After an eight-day trial at Southwark crown court in London, the six Just Stop Oil (JSO) activists were found guilty of public nuisance, which carries a maximum 10-year sentence, for climbing gantries on the M25 in 2022 to demand an end to new fossil fuel projects.
